    Pettigrew a top 12 TE?

    Grew was:
3rd in receptions last year (83 receptions)
11th in yards (777 yards -one yard shy of being in the top 10)
11th in yards per game (48.6)
    tied for 12th in td's (5)
    12th in 1st downs (37)
    0 fumbles.

could you make an argument that he's a top 12 maybe even a top 10 TE?

If he can clean up the dropped passes he could be on the outside looking in for a top 5 TE.

bottom end of the top 10ish. anywhere from 9-13 IMO. a lot of players considered "tight ends" aren't actually "tight ends" though....more like big WRs who line up outside more often than not and do little blocking.

    Gronk
    Graham
    Witten
    Gates
    Davis
    Hernandez
    Gonzalez

are all probably better at this point. I think you could slide Grew in after that group.

If Grew wasn't asked to be "our running game" when it's not working, I think he'd have a higher yards per reception and more yards overall. Not a flashy player so he doesn't get the pub but he gets the job done.

If you include his blocking, hes easily top 12, maybe top 10. Hes a good catcher with some athletic ability.

More like, Witten, Gates, Davis, Gonzalez as TIGHT ENDS... Grahm, Gronk and hernadez are NOT more complete players, Better receiving tight ends but cant hold grews jock when it comes to blocking.

Really to me its a hard question, I dont consider those 3 to be complete Tight Ends, They are Hybrids. Would i like to have one of them? You bet. But when it comes to complete tight ends i think grew is top 6ish.. If ya count the other guys then top 10ish.

Gronk is a TE. Hernandez plays like a WR, same with Jimmy

watch near the end talking about his blocking, shows him 1v1 against Orakpo. That's a part of his game that's very underrated imo

His numbers also benefit from being in such a pass-heavy offense. And having Stafford throwing to him doesn't hurt, either. He's not in a situation like Vernon Davis with Alex Smith throwing to him.

Not to take anything away from him at all, though. He's in the perfect situation to best take advantage of his capabilities. I'd easily put him towards the end of the Top 10 right now, with a complete confidence in his ability to move into the Top 5 in the next couple seasons.

    Scrap Detroit!!

I think Pettigrew is the 6 best tight end in the NFL right now. This is my list:

    1. Rob Gronkowski
    2. Jimmy Graham
    3. Antonio Gates
    4. Vernon Davis
    5. Jason Witten
    6. Brandon Pettigrew

And here is why. The top two are set. They do almost everything to an elite level receiving wise. Antonio Gates and Jason Witten are future Hall of Famers. Vernon Davis is probably the fastest TE in the league and is probably the best receiver of the group. What puts Pettigrew above everyone else is his ability to block. He is probably the best blocking tight end in the NFL right now. He is also on his way to being an elite receiver. Next year at this time there will be talk about him being the third best TE in the league. He will break 100 catches this year and catch 10 TDs. Look for him to work his way up this list.

Is anyone going to mention his drops? I'd have him in the top 12 if he didn't drop so many catchable passes at such inopportune times.

And please don't quote any official drops list. Those things are notoriously inaccurate.

We all watch the games and see how he blows plays through his lack of focus.

I'd also say considering when we drafted him he was spoken about as a generational blocker, he's been solid but unspectacular in that regard.

He can be better. I have him in the 10-15 range right now.
