    Standings

Take a crack at the Western Conference standings based on the additions/subtractions that took place for each team this offseason. Here are some links to help out.

^^^ I almost put Dallas a little higher. The Western Conference has gotten weaker with (just naming playoff relevant teams) Detroit, Nashville, Phoenix, and Vancouver (Luongo? Kesler injured) getting worse on paper and really only Dallas and Minnesota improving.

Just my own personal suspicion, but I see the standings being a little more unpredictable with the 48 game schedule. It will essentially be easier for the teams that would otherwise not be there at the end to make the playoffs if they can manage one good surge or two in a shortened season. I would not at all be surprised to see more than one surprise team get in, Colorado or Anaheim, or see a team like Dallas vault to the top. I do think Edmonton gets in this year.

Agreed, some crazy things will probably happen this year. I think Minnesota would have made it (through 48 games) because of their hot start and the LA Kings wouldn't have last year. Which is pretty crazy to think of.

My early guess... Minnesota could be higher possibly if they put it together quickly. They have a solid team on paper for sure.

Totally forgot that. My buddy picked the Canucks to miss the playoffs when we did our annual prediction contest. We all laughed. Maybe we shouldn't have. lol
