    2012: AL Central Race Thread

    Talk here about the AL Central race as the season comes to a close......

    Detroit's next 25 games go like this....

    Balt-3 - W,L,L

    Tor-3 - W,W,W

    LAA-3 - L,W,W

    @KC-3 - L,L,L

    WSox-3 - W,W,W

    Cle-3 - L,L,W

    @LAA-3 - L,L,L

    @Sox-4 - L,W

    Yes they play a lot of home games but Baltimore is playing good and always pesky this time of year. I assume they sweep Tor, def take 2 from them. LAA if they get Weaver, Grienke and Haren that would be great. I see them just winning 1 game that series. Then @ KC who always plays tough at home. Then The Sox who hopefully dont get swept. I would be happy with taking 1 game their. Then Cle hopefully the indians take a game at least. Then at LAA again im going with LAA for 2 games. Then Sox we will take 2.

    So thats 14-11 for them over the next 25 games which I hope comes true. But thats my heart talking, but my brain is telling me 16-9.

    Sox next 27 games....

    @Tor-1 - W

    @KC-3 - L,L,L

    NY-3 - W,W,W

    Sea-3 - W,W,W

    @Balt-4 - L,L,W,L

    @Det-3 - L,L,L

    Min-3 - W,L,W

    KC-3 - L,W,L

    Det-4 - W,L

    So my heart says Sox go 17-10 over the next 27 games. Thats winning tonight, 1 in KC, 2 against NY, Sweep Sea, 2 in Balt, 1 in Det, Sweep Min, 2 against KC and 2 against DET.

    But brain is saying 15-12 add a loss in Balt and against Min.

    If Konerko is able to come back Friday, right now I just don't see the Tigers as better than the Sox.

    I hope you are right but Sox playing in KC scares the hell out of me. I know they took 2 out of 3 earlier but im still afraid.

    Another thing to look at in the K.C. Series is we'll have Sale, Peavey and Quintana pitching.

    Sale vs Chen, Peavey vs Mendoza, and Quintana vs Guthrie.
    No ideas for the moment.

    Also just keep in mind, let's say we pull off tonight's win a somehow a sweep this weekend and Detriot loses 2/3, all of the sudden we'll be 4.5 up.

    I know it's a what if scenario, but all I'm saying is, we have a chance to do some damage this weekend, and we are VERY due for another 6-10 game winning streak, maybe with Konerko back at it tomorrow and with our bats swinging a bit better, this may be the time to grab some breathing room.
    No ideas for the moment.

    Those are same 3 KC pitchers who faced the Sox over a week ago here and KC took 2.

    Not that I'm arguing with you, but I'm just hopin for a different result this go around.

    I'm hoping Pauley got a chance to rest over this last week and can be the player he was before the all-star break and we can get some of our colder bats hitting again.

    I know it's in K.C. but we can do it, and honestly we need to. We're not playing much like a playoff team right now, so let's start that now. 3/4 in Toronto would be a good start, then focus on K.C.

    Those 4 games at home against Detroit will be huge. They most likely will have gained ground by then so 3 out of 4 might be a must. And I know i'm obsessed, but I think Tigers pass us if were not up at least 2 or 3 games going into the last 13 games of the season.

    U.S. Cellular Field, where dumb baseball thoughts are embraced.

    Im going to the Monday game against Detroit. Its half price night. I bought them 2 weeks ago. 4 tix 3 rows behind Sox bullpen $100 and there were still a lot of good seats available.

    Baltimore is going to crash soon, and at Detroit seems like a good start.
