Just summing up the whole o'neal thing here:

We've waived Miller and Dyson too. This will be the roster we go into the season with.

This is pretty interesting regarding Oden. It's funny how we (including myself) talked about giving him a pretty decent sized contract in money and years. Meanwhile, not a single team has shown interest.
All considering, we should just offer him a 2 year vet min deal with a team option for the second year. Tell him, we don't plan to use him this year but want our training staff to work with him. Then next year we'll see how it goes.

The guy had surgury on both knees only like 5 months ago. He was very recently saying he would sit out all of next year to rehab his injuries... he then doubled back on that but it seems pretty clear he is not ready to play and wont be ready. For any team to consider giving him a multi year deal when the guy has missed 75% or more of 4 of his 5 total seasons in the league is absolutely nuts.
He will be there to sign next year, they can wait until then.
I'd rather take my chances now. Let our trainers work with him this year and if we feel he's a go, pick up the team option. Both for the minimum. I think it's worth it for a potential elite center.
By next year he will have offers from other teams and it's no longer a sure thing.
i agree with you on this one. Oden is a kid with old man's knees. even the best medical/training staff in the NBA will be hard-pressed to make him compete against the high level of play in the NBA, esp in the center position wherein it's very physical
he will be, at best, a back up C
My favorite part of signing ONeal is the fact he took LESS money to come to the SUNS!!! EVERY player that visited the suns with the exception of mayo signed with us! thats a great sign that our front office knows how to WINE and DINE. and that people WANT TO BE HERE. Our medical staff has taken the step from
a- helping the suns players stay healthy and be on the court.
now they
b- entice players to sign with us in order to improve there physical well being.
It is really exciting when players want to play for your team and take less money to do so.
Also just throwing this out there. But what if we didnt sign dragic but resigned nash.
it would be the same team as last year EXCEPT we add, scola, beasley,Oneal.
we would have defently been a top 4 seed in the west.
Gortat = the honey badger!!!

I feel like there needs to be a new thread created... one for trade ideas and the other for fantasies. Hard to follow the logic for just about all the teams involved in the majority of these trades.
Good read about the plans of the team.

One does not simply commit to rebuilding.
Suns are looking at Lester Hudson an Leandro Barbosa as well.
It might just be me but, with hindsight, I would still take Oden over Durant in the draft.
Haha, i'm serious. We'd know about all his injuries so we'd have a chance to prevent them. No doubt Oden would be the best centre in the game right now if he stayed healthy.
Yeah we'd know about how good Durant is too but 7-feet of uber-productive, raw talent is still too good to pass up.
