    Respect or Not

Who are the top 5 players you respect?

Who are the top 5 players who you don't have respect for?

Feel free to provide reasons why (loyalty, individual success, championships, impact on franchise, work ethic, off the court/charity, etc).

I don't know if I'd put Ron in the "no repect" category. I'm scared **tless of him, is that considered respect? He'd be the last guy I'd disrespect to his face.

There are three guys who stand out to me that call for respect. That's Duncan, Nash and CP3. Each of them are team-first players who are very talented and they all make the players around them better. For me that is what basketball is about. I respect a lot of players, but those are the three who get the most respect from me.

As for players I don't respect, Kobe and Melo are at the top of the list for me, because they both come across as ball hogs. If Kobe was the kind of facilitator that Nash, CP3 and Duncan are, the Lakers would have won the last four championships.
I came here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$. And I'm all out of bubble gum.

Dang, just had my fat post with details accidentally erased.

    Oh well, in short:

Philanthropists/highly regarded teammates/high IQ players/superstars (current or former) = the most revered by myself, and if I had to choose a starting 5?

Steve Nash / Grant Hill / Lebron James / Pau Gasol / Tim Duncan

Most pathetic for one reason or another would be:

Ron Artest / DeShawn Stevenson as the worst. Dwight Howard as a teammate and doing the least with the most from a leadership/personna standpoint. Kobe would be top 25 for me on most revered (more basketball/work ethic related) while coincidentally also being top 10 on my most pathetic.

    Respect:

Duncan (obvious reasons, hard not to respect him)
Garnett (his passion for the game)
Rose (he just seems to be a great guy)
Battier (his defense, the fact he is such a smart guy with a lot of passion for the game)
Pierce (because the fact he sticked with Boston even at the hard times)

    Not:

    Howard (dwightmare)
Artest (obvious reasons, hard to respect him as a person, but I respect his game, especially his defense)
Kevin Love (he seemed to be dirty player last season)
    Derek Fisher (dirty player)
Bryant (respect his game, but he is arrogant and dirty)
