I am getting slightly concerned that the Bears are on the verge of having this season and seasons in the future blow up in their faces. We've handed the keys to the kingdom to a volatile QB. Our best player on offense has a personality disorder(in fairness to him, he was a model player and citizen last year). Our new MLB handed in animal urine for a drug test. Our coach is from Canada. Our new left tackle is getting an awful lot of money and no one can seem to agree on whether he is even that good. Our new tight end is nicknamed the black unicorn. We might draft a player with an imaginary girlfriend. Our running back, notorious for running out of bounds, is the new spokesman for speaking against being able to lower your head.

Wherever that quote is from they make a lot of good points. The NFL is a tricky business. The fortunes of teams can shift pretty quickly. As a Lions fan I’m happy with where we are at but our defense is still light years behind a team like the Bears. If some of our guys pan out and they struggle that could change I suppose but as of right now the Bears are the better team.

That being said, we could easily see our record flip-flop if the Bears struggle with the changes they have gone through this offseason. If FAs pan out at a rate of 50%, the Bears might be in good shape but a hole at LB or LT will hurt them and I would say there is a good chance one of their new guys doesn’t work out for them. I don’t think the black unicorn is going to scare anyone either. I think the Bears will go down a little this year and if Cutler goes down or flakes out they could be in for a 5-11 stinker.
