Against the Panthers my Defensive approach has shifted to Coverage Sacks.

Funny thing is I dont think we are a great coverage team.

Funnier thing is I dont think we are very effective blitzing team either.

Our front 4 hasn't shown me that they can get consistent pressure even with a blitzing Safety.

When we do get pressure we're usually a step late and the QB hits a wide open WR.

I wanted us to play in da box and bring pressure and stop the run. But that aint work we tried that and Washington ran and passed on us.

So if I'm Spags just go back to rushing the front 4.

And playing Zone packages with the remaining 7, yea its that bad imo.

We cant win getting ran all over and passed all over. We have to contain one and stop the other at least get em off the field faster and more often. Hold teams to 27 points or so at least geez!

The only realistic thing I really hope Spags will do is rush 4 drop the rest blitz like once lol.

    Again thats my realistic suggestion.

I think yall know what I want and what I woud do if it were my Defense

I want Harper Casillas Lofton and Wilson in a 4-4 base.

I want a wider flatter defense that forces everything back inside of it. Faster play at the LB position.I want the run edges watched and the sideline throws eliminated.

3 deep help over the top

If they can run up the middle on Bunk and Ellis then good luck with that and if they break the first level I want a solid second level stepping up.

Keep the Offense playing in front of the 4-4 eyes on QB and WR from 3 deep level and from the LB level. Everything in front of you so you are in tackling positions.

Make em one dimensional make em try and pass deep so we can rush with more confidence and drop our LBers spread across the field. Make that QB throw inside our defense and find the holes instead of letting them toss it to the sideline where they know its either going out of bounds are into the WR hands make em throw it into our D not away from it. Try that back shoulder throw so someone can step in front of it.

But discourage teams from running again we can't let both run and pass kick our *** all year.

A lot of the problems with the D can be traced back to the offense. Our D is built to play with a lead, teams are put in compromising positions and forced to be one dimensional in an effort to keep up. As long the offense keeps struggling the D wont look any better.

Waht you are saying makes sense and I think its pretty much the reality of whats happening right now.

But me personally I'd rather the defense establish its own Identity.

Are we Run stoppers or Pass rushers or Coverage guys or are we a trying to be a bit of it all.

I think we should just focus on stopping the run, but we will see wjat we do against the Chiefs. Maybe this game our offense will carry the D like it has mostly done recent years except for 09. And we all know how that year turned out.

    this 100 times....

whats the number 1 way teams kill us the most. running the ball and killing clock. seems like the last few games we never can get in a rythem.

i think Neo or MT said it but i'm about done with Big Ellis myself

DT is up there in needs. Unbelievable considering we traded up to 7th overall for him. If you can't even perform in a contract year though...thats kinda off.

Yeah, Hicks looked good. Got doubled teamed a couple of times during the game after he got that big hit on Newton for the incompletion

I have a feeling Ellis is going to the bench in favor of Hicks, soon.

Maybe, a few games down the road. I think he'll start seeing more snaps for sure. And he's getting going to be getting them at Ellis' expense.

Its funny that we said this, but most of Hicks' snaps have come in relief of Broderick Bunkley instead of Sedrick Ellis

Spags won't change his scheme, it works. Just takes waaay too much time to get down.
