Pens signed both Pouliot and Maatta to ELC and bought-out Peterson (just an AHL player). Nothing too crazy, I thought us buying out Peterson meant that we would sign someone aka Kostitsyn, but I guess not.

So tomorrow is the day the lock out becomes official right? Hopefully the two sides can hammer something out and we can get hockey back before the new year.

Actually I was thinking about this a couple of days ago. The lock out is going to be really good for our young D prospects. They can play another year in Junior/ AHL without the pressure of trying to crack the NHL lineup. I think this will be very beneficial for our young D prospects. So a part of me is hoping this lock out stays around for a while. Also I really miss watching Junior Hockey, College Hockey or AHL hockey. Players always putting everything on the ice to prove something.

I can't see Sid signing in the KHL. I can see him signing for some Swiss or Swedish elite league but I think the KHL would be a huge risk. I dont know if the transportation has gotten better for the KHL teams but I would hate for Sid, Malkin, any current NHL player or any player for that matter be in another disaster like team Lokomotiv.

Does anyone think that someone might start another hockey league in North America? Like they tried to do with football with the UFL or even AFL (arena football league). Another choice for players to play in North America rather than fly across the pond to play? Like start in some major cities that are close together so teams didnt have to spend huge money on chartered flights they could take the bus instead. Does anyone think that might happen?

I imagine there are some independent pro hockey leagues around the country just like there are independent baseball leagues. In fact I believe there is a team rather close to me that fits that description. I know this isn't exactly what you are saying but that too would be another option.

    Josh Yohe on Tangradi:

"Eric Tangradi, who is skating noticeably better after dropping weight this summer, was spotted on TV during yesterday’s Pirates-Brewers four-hour marathon."

The important part is that Tangradi is getting faster.
