What puts this team over the top though is their solid depth behind each one of their starters.
2) Portland Blazers
A young but experienced duo leading this team in Westbrook and Bynum. They tout a strong 8 man rotation with very good complimentary pieces throughout the line-up. One of the best built teams based off of potential chemistry this team has through it’s rotation.
3) Los Angeles Lakers
Arguably the 2nd most talented starting unit in the West behind the Spurs, but their problem is a complete lack of depth. Not a single even decent bench piece will be the bane of this team. When your bench is highlighted by Richard Jefferson, that can spell trouble.
4) Houston Rockets
Nash, Garnett, and Howard are just too much. Although they boast one of the weakest rotations on the wings amongst contenders, they do have enough depth to make them a dangerous team come the post-season.
5) Denver Nuggets
Probably the sneakiest team in the West. Veteran #1 option in Pierce, and really nice compliment of players with Lin, George, and West. McGee has a bad reputation but with that veteran leadership should provide a good balance to his game. Nice depth as well.
6) Oklahoma City Thunder
Nice last minute push from the Thunder. With a duo of Durant - ZBo and nice complimentary pieces in the starting unit and a solid backcourt rotation of Jack, Thabo, Sessions, and JRich. One thing I'll say is this team's frontcourt defense worries the hell out of me.
7) Utah Jazz
You can easily rank them higher from a talent perspective, but the defensive end is what worries me. Brand is exceptional but can he cover up for Gay/Thornton/Brook? Not sure on that, this team can put up points in a flurry though.
8) Los Angeles Clippers
Putting them here actually is a bit angering because along with the other LA team this team has absolutely putrid depth. One of the nicest complimentary starting 5's lead by CP3 - Melo with a frontcourt pairing that is a perfect compliment to those two superstars. Hated putting them ahead of the Grizzlies but just way too much star power on this team.
9) Memphis Grizzlies
This team has an identity in its defense but the offense will struggle. Not sure if Marc Gasol is prepared to be a 20/10 type player yet because that is what he has to be for this team. Extremely deep team, but the offensive woes is what kept this team out of the playoffs.
10) Dallas Mavericks
Really like the starting 5 on this team and love their defensive identity. Bosh and Deng are capable #1 and #2 options. Problem is depth. Foye, Tolliver, Evans isn't bad at all but having Gibson, Casspi is pretty awful. Those are 11th, 12th guys off the bench type players.
11) New Orleans Hornets
A very young and talented team and one of the best jobs done in the Mock. Just too young. Not sure if this team outside of Battier has any real veteran presence which worrisome. This would be a top 4-5 team in the West in 2-3 years though or less.
12) Phoenix Suns
13) Golden St. Warriors
14) Minnesota Timberwolves
