Pillar continues to impress in the Arizona fall league. He doesn't get to play very often for some reason, but he went 3-5 with 2 runs scored and another SB last night.

He is now hitting .429/.478/.571 with 5 SB's (in 6 attempts) and 5 runs scored in just 5 games played. I don't understand why they won't play him more.
hes in the taxi squad, meaning he can only play on wednesdays and saturdays i think.

Does Pillar's good stats in the AFL put him into the top 20 prospects for the jays to start 2013?

Yeah I read he was in the taxi squad...but I am not quite sure what that means. Once you are placed there are you not allowed to be moved to the normal squad?

pillar's already in my top 20

Things will always work out in the end, but if you want them to turn out a certain way... You need to make it happen.

    Not in any logical list.

Sure, some will put him in their Top 20...but when BA, MLB, etc. come out with their Top 20's...I can't see any way Pillar is on any of them.

I disagree. I think you'll see him right in the 15-20 range.

I think some of you underestimate how important the hitting tool is in baseball. Pillar is the best contact/high average hitter we have in our system right now, he led our minor league system with 51 SB's this year (in only 60 attempts), and he can play all 3 OF positions. What else does he have to do to crack your top 20 list? I realize age is meaningful, but I think some people are WAY too hung up on calendar years. He was the best outfielder in our minor league system last year by far. Who cares if he breaks into the big leagues at 25. I would rather start paying him (and any prospect) big league money when they are closer to a finished product. That way you have control of them through more of their primes before they are eligible for free agency. When guys break into the big leagues at 20/21, you need to pay the good ones HUGE dollars to hang onto them during most likely the best years of their respective careers because they make huge dollars even in their arbitration years if they are good, and become free agents at like 27/28 years old....when most guys are just entering their prime.

Now that we will have a real AAA team, I think you will see almost all of our prospects take a bit longer to crack the big league roster. It will be pretty hard for people to break in at the age of 21 like Gose did this year..and even he was only due to injuries and is expected to start 2013 back in AAA.

    Jake Barrett update:

24.2 inns and 25so. However, 13 walks to go with his nice fat 5.84 era.

Thanks for not taking the money be...hoych.
