Games HAVE to be this expensive due to the dev costs of modern technology.
I'm fine with the prices, it's the stagnant content that has me annoyed

The problem is this. No companies are developing new IP's. With the way the economy is 1 or 2 games that undersell for a company, outside of the giants, means they go out of business. So now we have hit a period in time where you mostly get squeals to the blockbuster titles.

Only game I pay full price for is fifa every year.
6 weeks til I drop 60.
Only game I can think of that I paid full price for in the last year was NHL 12. I got COD cheap...video games are extremely overpriced still somehow. When was the last time they actually dropped in price? I can't think of the date but it sure as hell seems like they've been at $70 for 5 years now for the same repetitive games over and over again. It blows my mind that people actually get excited for the new COD games...it's the same damn game over and over and over again.
That is the problem in the gaming industry, The last few years the only thing that really sold were sequels, very few new IP's sold well. So the Publisher only funded sequels and remakes. If they create new IP's and do something new they don't sell, but if they only produce sequels, the same customers that didn't buy the new stuff get's tired of the stuff he bought the last few years.
And about the price. AAA Games are expensive to make, think Hollywood Blockbuster budgets. They have one shot to make a profit on it and that is when it hit shelves, they don't have the luxury of movies, to have the Box office, DVD/BR sales, and then the TV market. Yeah there are cheaper games out there, but as soon as a game has really good graphics you can bet that it will cost, and then you don't have the voice acting power of the AAA games or the polish.
The last full price game that I bought was Red Dead Redemption. It was definitely worth it, but I feel like **** after buying a $70 game. The last 3 games I bought for $15-$20 (Saints Row 3, Assassin's Creed 2, Bioshock 2.) It's so much more satisfying buying a cheap used game.
Think long and hard about why you respond to nonsense. Please!
