They could bring up any person in the minors and they would be better than Pena. Pena doesn't play anyway. They need someone better than Chavez, Nix, etc...to make any difference on the team.

    Couple of things though:

Even though Lee chose Philly in large part because of the Children's Hospital I find it very strange that NY is one of 9 teams he has a dedicated no-trade to. This seems to go a little bit beyond the liking NY but loving Philadelphia arguement.

Utley in his prime was still generally a horrible 2nd half player. He plays like Babe Ruth from April until June and then like Pat Kelly from July onward. Too much decline and injury baggage to take seriously but I like the fact that you're thinking epic instead of micro.

Remember when George would acquire Ruben Sierra and David Cone on the same day when the team was already on fire just to seal the deal. NOW we're reduced to talking about Headly and Betancourt.....

I like your go big theory because this team always seems to feast on mediocre talents during the summer months and then gets spanked due to better competition and a lack of clutch performance by guys who at this point can't really be counted on to do anything else ala ARod and Swisher when everything is on the line in October.

I would probably be looking bigger then what's being bandied around here.....but hey, that's just me.
I have no problem with what might be in terms of second half slumps from Utley. In October he lets loose. Lee is a pipe dream his salary is too high and the number of years are too many, if Utley is made available like Olney suggested he might be, then he is logical and definitely doable. I'd have no problem with him on the team the next two years.... Maybe cash pulls a stealthy move once again. It'd be nice.

Lee could be heading to Rangers possibly for Olt.

Wigginton could be a good fill in but idk if another platoon guy is the answer. Guess we'll find out what the Yanks plan is by tomorrow.

Lee to Rangers basically renders the Yanks useless. We aren't beating Texas or LAA.

how the fk does ty wigginton help us lol look at his numbers for the year.

I hope those reports going around arent true.

there is no way in hell they are going to be after lee, he has the highest salary of any player over the next three years.

whats starting to bug me is some of the players being traded arent going for that much.

Like this pence deal, thats a guy that could have helped us, and he didnt cost that much if he really gets traded for whats being reported.

Wigginton isn't going to help that much. Last I heard, the Phillies were keeping him.

I wonder if Cash will try to pull off a stealth Cliff Lee deal.

Would u sacrifice Granderson to have Lee in the budget?

    Hmmm...

I meant by not resigning grandy. Not trading him.

Absolutely not. Ageing Lee is not worth Grandy in his prime. Gold Glove caliber outfield play and 40-45 hrs perennially

No I wouldn't sacrifice Granderson for Lee. He is responsible for a big part of the offense'sproduction. plus pitching is fine without lee. Next year ya got Pineda, Sabathia, Hughes and nova plus maybe Phelps. That's a good young rotation

What's the latest on Pineda. I've mentally checked out with him and assumed his career is all but over. Does this guy have a chance of being anything at all or is that injury too much?
