    Rick Nash

98.5 says big offer for Rick Nash to come in the next fews days.

6/27/09: “We expect [Rondo] to play by the rules and be a leader as a point guard. We need him to be more of a leader,” Ainge said. “There were just a couple situations where he was late this year, I don’t know if he was sitting in his car, but showed up late and the rest of the team was there. We have team rules and you have to be on time. He was fined for being late, he said he was stuck in traffic, and it’s just unacceptable.”

screw rick nash, and his 7.8mill per, his declining stat line the past 4 years, and the risk of losing one or two of: David Krecji, Dougie Hamilton, Milan Lucic, Tyler Seguin, Tuukka Rask ?

I would much rather go out and either trade for Iginla, a leader in the lockeroom and on the ice, plenty of Playoff experience, toughness and grit, a goal scorer (hasn't scored less than 30 goals in the past 11 years) and wouldn't cost you an arm and a leg like Nash or Shane Doane, all the same things as iginla expect he would give you 20-25 goals and 50+ points.....plus you wouldn't give up anything for him if he makes F.A (which i assume he would)

    ALSO

with the 7.8 mill for Nash, that would prevent us from giving Seguin an extension in the future PLUS signing good players or trading for them b/c Nash tying up all that money, no thank you to Nash...

I hope not, I read that article and stop reading as soon as I saw Iginla was UFA. Clearly someone didn't do his research goes Iggy has 1 year remaining on his deal.

Dear Bruins please look to the example of Chicago and soon NJ on getting big pay day players and what it may cost your roster

I feel like I'm talking to SJ fans who are saying; yeah! go after Heatly he just needs Joe to set him up.....

Or Montreal saying we got a great center in Gomez!

Or Philly who just needed an elite goalie in Bryz to win it all

Weigh the cost versus the potential.

-What big pay day players did Chicago get?

-Gomez up until the last few seasons wasn't a terrible players but yes overpaid

-Ya cause Philly didn't lose the the Devils who KO'd the Rangers and are representing the Eastern Conference for the Stanley Cup Finals. Oh not to mention they traded away maybe their two best players in the off-season.

    - I agree about weighing the cost. Fringe 1st line LW / Young unproven NHLer / Prospect that just finished his CHL career & a draft picks that no one knows the future of. All this for a guy who is a lock to do what only (on average) 5% of the guys in the NHL can do. Not to mention that in a down year he would have been 5th on the B's in points and 1st in Goals Scored.

For the right price you acquire Rick Nash. I'm not saying you throw all your chips in for him but you can't be afraid to take a chance. A great NFL coach once said

"Do you want to be safe and good, or do you want to take a chance and be great?"

Set aside Nash cap hit just for a moment. Lets say the package was Lucic/Caron/Spooner/1st. Does Nash makes the Boston Bruins a better team? Is he that elite scorer the B's lack?

Hossa's contract screwed them and they had to trade Buf and Ladd

Uh gomez has been terrible since he arrived in Montreal

Philly shows that what might feel like a great idea doesn't always work out. Sometimes doing nothing is better than taking big risks

Why or how do you think what your offering CBJ will want? I know you said he is a bad GM but if my franchise player is going

What I would want Krejci Rask Hamilton Spooner. I don't want Boston's 1st because its just a high second in a very weak draft. Does Nash now make Boston a better team?

At that price no and anything that starts with Rask or Hamilton is an automatic decline. What you don't realize is that Columbus doesn't have as much leverage as people think.

    1. Nash wants out of Columbus
    2. Nash has a List of teams he'll waive his NMC to
    3. On that List most teams have to make room for a $7.8 million player

So you have a guy who doesn't want to play for you, has a small amount of teams he can be moved to & has a higher then normally contract. Where is Columbus leverage?

    This ^^^.

Also itd be Krejci going to Columbus not Lucic IMO simply because of Seguin and also Lucic is more "Bruin" than Krejci.

    I say again

Krejci, Spooner, Khudobin 1st rounder throw in Caron and Hamil too. Who can offer them a better deal?

It's either play it safe or take a shot. I'd rather take a shot than play it safe. It's not even the biggest risk.

The only worry is that Seguin is not ready to be that #1 center. I also worry that Lucic (RFA after next season) is going to want Krejci+ money

Legit concerns but I have faith in Seguin, and shouldn't Lucic get 5 million?
