Adam Warren took a no-no into the 8th yesterday. SWB Yanks won in the 11th.

We should all remember his spot start a few weeks ago. 2+ innings or so, 6 runs I think.

Hopefully he's found a nice groove!

Even if Mason was healthy there was no way he gets called up to the majors. Unless you meant promoted to a higher level, which would also have been unlikely.

Musteiler probably would have gotten the nod

Musteiler isn't a great outfielder, he's an infielder..3B is his natural position.

Wise woulda been out best option, but we let him go.

    Phoba!

Give me some pointers on who to gravitate towards on the Tampa team. I'm practicing with them next weekend.

Bummed Mason got hurt. Probably won't meet him now.

    Thanks,

The Yankees have signed 24-year-old RHP Zach Woods out of an independent league. He has decent numbers this year to go along with a four-pitch mix and a fastball that reportedly touches 94. This is the time of year when clubs will reel in some indy ballers and hope one of them provides some useful of big league innings down the line.

Triple-A Empire State (5-2 loss to Rochester)

    CF Chris Dickerson: 2-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 2 BB, 1 K — 14 hits in his last 32 at-bats (.438) with three doubles and two homers
2B Corban Joseph: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K — he’s been slumping pretty hard of late, good to see him get off the schneid a bit
SS Eduardo Nunez & LF Ronnie Mustelier: both 1-4 — Nunez struck out once, Mustelier twice
C Austin Romine & CF Melky Mesa: both 0-3 — Romine struck out once, Mesa twice
    1B Kosuke Fukudome: 1-4, 1 K
RF Darnell McDonald: 1-3, 1 BB
    3B Ramiro Pena: 0-4
    RHP John Maine: 5 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 7/3 GB/FB — 72 of 102 pitches were strikes (71%)
RHP Chase Whitley: 1 IP, zeroes, 2 K, 0/1 GB/FB — ten pitches, seven strikes
    LHP Lee Hyde: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 0/1 GB/FB — only eight of 18 pitches were strikes (44%)
    RHP Manny Delcarmen: 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 0/1 GB/FB — ten of 14 pitches were strikes

Double-A Trenton (4-1 loss to Reading)

DH David Adams & RF Zoilo Almonte: both 1-4 – Adams drove in their only run … Almonte doubled and threw a runner out at third
Everyone Else: combined 0-21, 1 R, 3 BB, 8 K — CF Abe Almonte drew two of those walks
    RHP Mikey O’Brien: 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 7/6 GB/FB — 63 of 101 pitches were strikes (62%)
    LHP Francisco Rondon: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 0/2 GB/FB — 30 of 48 pitches were strikes (63%)

High-A Tampa (12-0 win over Clearwater)

    LF Ramon Flores: 2-5, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 CS
CF Slade Heathcott: 3-4, 2 R, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 2 SB – the power numbers are very good, but he’s also 15-for-18 in stole base attempts
    RF Tyler Austin: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — first homer at this level
    1B Kyle Roller: 2-4, 2 R, 2 3B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K — the best part? both triples came in the same inning
C Gary Sanchez: 3-5, 3 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI — it’s been an adjustment since the promotion, so hopefully this gets him going
    3B Zach Wilson: 3-5, 3 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 RBI, 1 K
    DH Kelvin DeLeon: 0-5, 2 K
    SS Yadil Mujica: 0-4, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
    2B Jose Toussen: 1-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 CS
    RHP Zach Nuding: 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K, 2/8 GB/FB — I’d say the shoulder isn’t fatigued anymore
    RHP Tommy Kahnle: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K, 2/1 GB/FB

Low-A Charleston (4-3 win over Hagerstown)

    2B Ali Castillo: 3-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 CS — nine hits in his last 20 at-bats (.450)
    SS Cito Culver: 1-1, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 BB
    CF Ben Gamel & C Francisco Arcia: both 0-3, 1 K — Gamel drove in a run … Arcia drew a walk
    RF Rob Refsnyder: 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K
    1B Saxon Butler: 2-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 K — dude has done nothing but mash since signing
    3B Dante Bichette Jr.: 1-4, 1 2B
DH Rey Nunez: 0-4, 3 K — two hits in his last 13 at-bats (.154) with seven strikeouts
    LF Eduardo Sosa: 1-4, 1 R, 1 K
    RHP Corey Black: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 5 K, 10/2 GB/FB — 51 of 78 pitches were strikes (65%) … nice full season league debut for this year’s fourth rounder
    LHP Fred Lewis: 2 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K, 3/1 GB/FB — 15 of 24 pitches were strikes (63%)
    RHP Nick Goody: 1 IP, zeroes, 1 K, 0/1 GB/FB — eight of 12 pitches were strikes

Short Season Staten Island is still playing. I’ll update this post once the game is over.

Rookie GCL Yanks (5-2 win over GCL Phillies)

CF Mikeson Oliberto & 3B Miguel Andujar: both 1-4 — Oliberto doubled, drove in a run, and struck out
    2B Jake Anderson: 2-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 K, 1 SB
    RF Ericson Leonora: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 K, 1 SB — threw a runner out at third
    DH Yeicok Calderon: 1-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K
    1B Bubba Jones: 0-4, 1 K
C David Remedios: 3-4, 3 R, 2 HR, 3 RBI — third straight game with a homer and five in his last five games
    LF Nathan Mikolas: 0-4, 1 K
    SS Francisco Rosario: 1-3, 1 K
    LHP Daniel Camarena: 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 2/3 GB/FB — 8/0 K/BB in 9 IP since the little shoulder issue
    RHP Rookie Davis: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
    RHP Chaz Hebert: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K, 1/2 GB/FB — 26/2 K/BB in 21.1 IP

Slade Heathcott is a big surprise. Definitely putting up solid numbers, and stealing quite a few bases. He could be one to watch closely.

With his tools he will always be someone to watch. A great example is Melky Mesa. He flew under the radar but because of his tools the Yankees never gave up on him, now he is about 1/2 of a good season away from playing in the show.

Mesa is on the 40 man roster. I hope we see him in September. He has pop, good speed and plus defensive skills. He can be a good guy to have on the post-season roster, IMO. Not that it will likely ever happen with us having guys like Swisher, Granderson, Ichiro, Ibanez and Jones. Who are all OF's.

    Okay..question..

    Say we let swisher walk..

Who can play RF for us next year in the minors that could possibly put up decent numbers with some power..I'm really not high on ronnie as he isnt too good in the outfield, he would make a nice bench player though.

I dont think we have anyone in the minors other than Ronnie who could step in, personally. Most of our talent is at a lower level, which you're aware of.

The FA class is extremely lacking too. We're either going to have to pay out of the nose to sign someone (Melky), or settle for a lesser player (Luke Scott). The two players I used are merely examples.

    Catcher is also a concern.

Or bring back Swisher for somewhere in between

Also, we better hope Gardy comes back strong or our OF is going to be ugly if we let Swish walk.
