    The Everything Mike Trout Thread

I think somebody said 4 hitters have accomplished a 400 BABIP over a full season since the 40's. Mike Trout might just be a guy to challenge that someday. I think of the reasons most hitters can't keep up a high BABIP even though they are great hitters is because they don't have the speed to beat out infield singles routinely. Well this guy beats out grounders where most guys would be out by 5-6 steps, it's ****ing crazy. And he's a righty!!

In 2010 his first pro full-ish season he had 368 PA and a 420 BABIP
In 2011 he had 412 PA at AA and put up a 390 BABIP
This year with 219 PA so far he a 397 BABIP

This guy is going to routinely post 10 WAR seasons. He is a bonafide future HOF. No question.

He will always be able to sustain a very high babip, he is crazy fast, hits the ball on the ground and hits line drives.

    But .400 is crazy hard.

And yes, since World War II

    Rod Carew 77
    Jose Hernandez 02
    Manny 00
    Clemente 67

    4 guys

Votto has a .430 right now

OMG Votto I didn't even see that. Is it walk rate that allows him to do that? Holy **** 2 in the same year would just be ridiculous.

    Ichiro had a 399 with 762 PA in 2004.

Well, that and Votto hits a lot of home runs too. He is able to carry that babip thus far because of A. he kills the ball every time he hits it, so grounders get through for him and B. because he hits the ball deep at a very high frequency.

For Votto, he is just a really good hitter.

But his walk rate is completely exclusive of it.

After watching him play against the Giants I have become a huge fan. He tracked down every ball hit into the outfield. Right when you think it's going to split the gap and get by Trumbo, Trout was right there to make the catch. Not only that, but his speed, ability, and vision on the basepaths is ridiculous. I mean this kid is 20, he's only going to get better which is scary for everyone else in the league.

No joke.. Who the F is Jose Hernandez?

Anyways back OT Trout has a legit shot at reaching a.400 BABIP at least a few times in his career.

At quite honestly because of his approach at the plate and his speed he could very well flirt with "hitting" .400 a few times as well.

if he is going to do it he will have to do it before he turns 30, speed is usually the first thing to go, unless he learns how to be a switch hitter

He has such a good eye that he hits a lot of mistakes pitchers make. I'm pretty sure he's gonna come close a few times.

New AL WAR Leader? Guess who.

Mike Trout. After waiting the first month of the season before he got called up, Mike Trout is now your AL WAR leader, just ahead of Josh Hamilton thanks to Trout's game last season.

There is no way you can rule him out of the AL MVP race not to mention the AL ROY.

I didn't know if this was thread worthy or not, but I think it's extremely impressive that a 20-year-old who was called up a month late now leads the American League.

A few other AL statistics of note:

    WAR: 3.6 (1st)
    wOBA: .416 (4th)
    wRC+: 168 (4th)

And he's the third best fielding outfielder. He is unreal.

Move to the Angels thread if need be.

EDIT: Meanwhile, Bryce Harper has a 1.4 WAR. Thought I should point that out because they're going to be compared throughout their entire careers.
