    more terrible umpiring

valdespin trapped a ball at second but it was called out

ike davis still tagged prado out who was chilling between first and second

umpires reversed the call and gave the batter a hit but ignored ike davis clear tag of prado which should have resulted in an out regardless thereby violating every rule in the rulebook

of course 2 batters later the braves score 2 runs that they had no business getting

how are these idiots continually allowed to get away with such horrific errors?

its also the 2nd call they blew as valdespin clearly beat out a ball a couple of innings earlier which was blown by cb buckner the same ump who incorrectly called out marlon anderson 5 years prior in a game in philly

It should not have been ruled an out

If the umpires consult after a play and change a call that had been made, then they have the authority to take all steps that they may deem necessary, in their discretion, to eliminate the results and consequences of the earlier call that they are reversing, including placing runners where they think those runners would have been after the play
Excerpt of Rule 9.02 C, umps are able to review a call, and correct whatever consequences are called by an incorrect call. Really wish people who are paid to talk about baseball (looking at you Fox announcers) knew the rules before commenting on them.

he still tagged the runner out

its his responsibility to stay on a base regardless

The umpire called the batter out. At that point, it is NOT the runner's responsibility to stay on 2nd, because based on that call the runner would be out if he stayed on 2nd. The rule clearly states that the umpire has the right to put runners where they should be and eliminate the results and consequences (in this case, Prado leaving 2nd was a consequence of the out call on the catch) caused by the incorrect call.

Well the rules of baseball disagree with you. So if your going to say it breaks every rule in the rule book, you might want to actually know the rules.

Your point? There's bad calls in every game, just saw several in the cardinals/reds game. Do we need a thread for it?
