Danny Green Signs with Cavaliers (Spurs Matched)

    Danny,

The management here in Utah is surprised you haven't received an offer yet. We would love for you to become the newest member of the Utah Jazz. You took some major strides with your game last year, and we want to give you the chance the prove you weren't just a product of the Spurs system. We can promise you around 20 MPG between SG and SF. Our offer is our BAE:

    Year 1: $2,500,000
    Year 2: $2,575,000

By the way, Danny, we understand that your QO for this year is higher than the first year in our deal. However, we don't think it would be in your best interest to play out that QO when the Spurs have given you a clear message that they no longer want you, filling out their wings with Ray Allen, Mickael Pietrus, Andre Iguodala, and James Johnson. We would like to show you some numbers financially:

Two year total of our offer: $5.075 million

If you were to sign your $3,342,175 QO for the Spurs, and then never play for them, you probably wouldn't get more than the vet's minimum the next year, which would be less than $1 million for a player with your amount of experience. Therefore, we are offering a more stable offer both financially and in playing time.

    Mr. Green,

Sorry we took so long to get back to you. We heard you were getting nervous that we might now match a offer. We have had a really busy off-season trying to resign Tim Duncan and getting a cap situation fixed out. We loved what you did last year and you really impressed us. We have good news and we have now got the cap situation under control. We now have enough money to match the Cavs offer and give you 17-22 minutes a game as the 6th/7th option. We look forward to having you return to us and improve you rising skill set.

    Spurs Match

    ---Spurs
