Sources say the Cavs and Timberwolves have talked about a Varejao trade. Minnesota would probably want the Cavs to take back forward Derrick Williams, which could be a deal-breaker. The Cavs could have interest in center Nikola Pekovic, a bruising 6-11, 290-pounder. Before anyone gets excited, forward Kevin Love is not available. Morning Journal

I smell a block buster trade if things do happen. This is what I think will happen. Draft picks may also be included too in this trade I'm assuming that the Cavaliers might have to give their 2013 1st round pick to make it work.

Cavaliers fan here...you have to be drunk or high if you think that the Cavaliers are giving up Anderson Varejao (signed for another 3 years) AND their 2013 1st rounder for Pekovic (only signed for another year) and Williams (reasonable contract for next 3 years...but you don't know what you are getting). The Cavs are trying to build for a solid future, you don't do that by giving up a 1st rounder almost guaranteed to be in the top 5...maybe the Lakers or Heat pick (we have the option of swapping for the higher of these two picks), but no way in hell do they throw in their own 2013 pick.

The Cavs have been high on Alexey Schved as well...would much rather take Pekovic and Schved than Williams, but I don't think that you guys would finish the phone call if that is what we were looking for.

I kind of hope that something does happen with this deal. I love Andy...he plays the game the way you want your young guys to learn, HARD! His offensive game comes around when he has a solid scorer around him (LeBron first and now Kyrie Irving). He has always been a great rebounder and a great "hustle" guy. I hate to see him go, but he isn't getting any younger and his health scares the hell out of me...because of the way that he plays.

You think for a second that we give up Varejao, Miles, Zeller, and Gee to get Pekovic, Williams, and Barea....AND give you our 2013 first rounder????????? WOW!!!

no way Shved is going anywhere... he is the only legit 2 guard we have as it is... without him we are well below a .500 team right now.

fans overrate their own players. that always holds true.
personally i wouldnt even deal Derrick Williams for AV straight up.

I would love Varejao. He is putting up great numbers this year. Like Pek but don't think he is a top guy to build around, especially with his upcoming contract. Like Williams, but when healthy with Love and Chase back plus AK47 and even Dante, he won't get the minutes and limited his chance to perform.

I would love a SG, but don't know if we will get one this year and limited quality guys who don't have major holes.

Loved the team at the start but damn injuries. And we may be two months away from a full roster

I know we have talked about Rudy and there are different sides but if AK leaves we are out that production. Article below puts us as most logical fit for him and it does make sense. Money is going to be an issue with Pek but if we can figure it out.... I can't believe Memphis would move him for less than a star coming back but ....

I don't believe for a second that the T-wolves would trade Pek for anything but a rediculously lopsided deal. This is the fist time EVER the wolves have had a legit Center. Glen will spend the money to keep him.

I don't think any of us "want" AK out as he has been great but he does have an opt out and if it takes him to get Gay that has to be thought about as an option. If AK leaves and we could have used him as an asset to get Gay and didn't......

Just because a trade works on the Trade Machine doesn't mean that it makes ANY sense at all. In order for a trade to be consummated, both sides have to agree to it, meaning that there are benefits to both teams. The trade that I linked above is just to show you that you can get any trade to work, but that it doesn't make a damn bit of sense to actually think that it would happen.

When you are trying to get a trade to work out, you have to look at years remaining on contracts, signability for impending free agents, likelihood of the player gelling with their new team, depth chart issues, system issues, etc. You can't simply put a bunch of numbers together and say that the trade works.

The way AK is playing this year we already have a solid big three of Rubio Love AK, they just have not played together healthy. Plus then we have to wait even longer for the new players to 'gel'.
