The Rockets may have overspent, but it's a matter of paying for known quantities. Morey has a bench full of young players to swap and develop so he probably sees himself as a big winner - didn't want Martin anymore, got a proven SG instead of a rookie and traded away some picks that he doesn't feel he needs.
Morey still is one of the GMs I don't like because I feel like people majorly overrate him. Signing Lin is questionable, Asik was a decent gamble, but this simply made sense for what they're going for even though I like the deal better for OKC.
