Fontenot has a decent avg and obp. Its worth a shot if we can snag him. DFA Greene and see what we can get for him if he gets claimed.

I'll take Fontenot. He's not great but what need for sure production, a guy we know can hit at the MLB level, not rookies who could be absolutely awful. If it was earlier in the year and we were getting rid of Greene it would be worth a shot but we don't know what we are getting with Velez. We know with Fontenot
They are basically the same player, and Greene at least gives you good base runner and slightly better defense (not a lot better though).
It isn't enough of an upgrade for me. But I wouldn't object either.
We lack right handed hitters overall off the bench, and I still believe in Greene (for no good reason).
Hey saw derek lowe was dfa. Any interest in him guys? I don't really but I was wondering what you guys thought? I believe Johnny Damon is next to be released or dfa'd.
Lowe isn't an upgrade over Kelly, so there wouldn't be much point in adding him.
Cliff Lee is on waivers. Being alittle behind in the division may give us the rights to his claim if we do claim him. That would be sweet.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/0...edium=facebookMLB terminated the contract between the Cardinals and right-handed pitching prospect Andres Serrano, Ben Badler of Baseball America reports. The Cardinals had signed the Dominican for $750K, but he failed the age and identity sections of his investigation, according to Badler. Brian Walton of TheCardinalNation.com had the story last month.

I saw that. That's one of the biggest risks in signing a dominican or a cuban player. You don't really know if they really are who they are or if they are actually the age that they say they are.
That's why Albert is really in his 40's already haha

I don't think alberts that old but I do think he's actually 35-38 or so. Then again why would he lie to his wife and say he was 21 when he was really 18? I don't know if you read that story but look it up if you get a chance to.
This is the pitching the Cards need.

Til 2015 with a vesting option in 2016. So it'd be solid trade. Definitely going to have to give up a good prospect or two.
Dodgers got Blanton and won the claim on Cliff Lee.
Yeah the dodgers got the claim because we passed on him. Also phils gm says he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
