Why did the Jaguars draft a punter in the 3rd round?

Seems like a weird pick. Seriously, what is the actual logic behind the pick? Maybe Alpha can chime in...?

Honestly, they must think he's the next big thing at Punter, someone needs to let their GM know that they could have had him ALOT later.

Still not as bad as when the raiders drafted Janikowski 17th overall in 2000 lol

At least Janakowski bangs down 60 yarders. Punters are dime a dozen and most teams don't even draft them.

Oh no doubt but 17th overall? You can't tell me they couldn't have picked him later. A good punter really isn't a dime a dozen so maybe they thought this dude is going to be something special, who knows.

Green bay likes gingers for their punter haha

It wasn't a genius pick by any means. But they had a huge hole at the position and apparently didn't think there was anyone else on the board who could have stepped in to make a bigger difference to the team. Probably had him targeted for the next round, but had to trade a fourth round pick to move up for Blackmon. Didn't think Anger would still be there in the fifth. Which is where the rankings had him.

I can't imagine them in the war room debating this pick.

I doubt they were in an actual war room. I bet they were at Buffalo Wild Wings. They do some awesome things for fantasy drafts, I wonder if they got hooked up doing their actual NFL draft there.

Yeah, there is no way they could find a halfway decent punter in FA or at the local community college. How many times have you heard the phrase, "we won our Super Bowl with the leg of our punter". Answer never. It was just dumb.

I dare you to draft a non-QB who will end up with a higher QB-rating that Blaine?
