High Thoughts: A Collection of Short Stories by northsider
If only I could remember the early years better.
I literally smoked for the first time at at 10 (I know stupid) but, smoked heavily (every day)from age 13 to 21.
Living in one of the few Chicago burbs with a forest preserve separating your town in half led to a ton of time spent building forts, dirt jumps, and smoking weed.
what burb?
River Grove. It's basically west side vs. east side.
The line that separates what school you go to crosses part of my parents yard. I can see a school at the end of my block but, I go to the one on the other side of the river. Much like Easy Leyden High School and Elmwood Park.
I have friends who could literally roll out of bed cross the street and take maybe 50-60 steps and be at EP High but, instead they were forced to go to East Leyden which was a whole other town over.
The best is when people ask me "River Grove???" and I say "Gene and Judes".
I always get "ooohhhhhhh I got ya".

I had no idea where it was until you said that.
Yeah that was a true blessing though. Climb out of the woods and for like 4 bucks get a double, tamale, and purple drink. Then go right back to the woods and burn a section of it.
A couple friends of mine from Oregon visited once and they were shocked that we had things called "Forest Preserves". They thought it was the funniest **** in the world.
Damn hippies.
We have to shove the deer somewhere right.
Besides whenever we needed to buy alcohol we would go to one of the hut's and find a bum to get us 40's.
Not till now did I find that a 45 year old homeless man buying 15-17 year old kids booze to be kind of weird. Especially when considering he would then party with us.
Nothing like good ole bumrape.
double entendre right there btw.
We've almost doubled the total posts in the Preds forum in 5 hours.
