you are correct he is a 1st round pick getting pushed to the 2nd because of flags

As far as TE, I would wait till the 5th and for Travis Kelce Cinn. Unless we took a chance on a guy like Mike Shanahan from Pitt.( 6-5/230lbs. Was recruited in basketball) or Marcus Davis Virginia Tech 6-4/240lbs and moved them over to TE.

I don't know about that, nfldraftscout/cbssports have Wheatons 40 yd. time at 4.44 while they listed Wallace at 4.32 when he came out. There are 3 guy in this draft that are 6'0" or taller with better 40 yd. times--- Rashard Ross 4.42, Corey Fuller 4.43 and Lorenzo White 4.43. But that's the times the above site list them at, once the combine comes around we will see. But like I said Wheaton is listed as a 2nd rd. or later( or not even listed) pick in ALL of the mock I've seen. Some WRs will jump up to the 1st rd. because teams draft for need not because they are 1st rd. talent. Looking thru these mocks I see alot of OL,DE and DTs are dominating the 1st Rd.

We do need a deep threat to keep defenses honest. I personally would like to add 2WRs. But we have to go back to step 1, will it be cheaper to sign O-lineman thru free agency and draft WRs or sign WRs and draft O-linemen.

I don't like him. I am cautious of MLB on top college teams that are successful because of so called leadership type qualities but lack the physical skills. Most recently Rolando Mcclain. I consider Teo a 2nd round quality player.

I tend to agree with most of this (if you view Teo just from the surface...without taking all aspects into consideration). The more I watch him, the more I think he has great coverage skills, tremendous awareness (nose for the ball), special instincts, and top-notch leadership abilities. Physically though, he's not quite where he needs to be IMO. But he can get bigger and stronger over time. You draft Teo because of the player that he WILL become. It's his intangibles that make him even more special than his "physical abilities".

Many say he's the best MLB prospect since Urlacher. Most bashed Luke Kuechly last year as he was taken as a top-10 talent at MLB. But honestly, the kid is an absolute beast! Teams would be so lucky to build their LB core around a player like that.

The problem here, is that we already have a VERY good MLB in Dansby. He should have a handful of good years left in him, but he get's paid like one of the best in the game as well. So the question is "do you replace him with someone that could be the defensive leader of this defense for the next decade, or do you just keep rolling with what you've got"? I personally think Teo is the exact type of player that Philbin would want leading our defense. It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see us grab him at 12 were he available on draft day. But honestly, he'll be off the board in the top 10 and it's a moot point...trading up is the only way for us to get him I believe, and I don't see that happening.

I could see someone like the Lions grabbing him at 5 if they don't go with a tackle. Could you imagine a center 3 of Suh/Fairley/Teo with Avril/Vanden Bosch on the outside...

Otherwise, I would expect Raiders/Jets to look at the guy to help clean up their "bad boy" image. He would be like adding Tebow to your roster...only actually useful.

Sorry this post is so long; I've been thinking a lot about it lately and haven't been here to discuss it in smaller chunks due to my vacation from PSD.

If Te'o looks like he is going to be at 12 then we need to dump or trade Dansby and take him, simple as that (unless Werner is there).

So watching the LSU/Clemson game last night really helped me get excited about a few possible prospects for the Phins. Mingo and Montgomery are both really talented players, and I feel that both should definitely stay on Miami's radar come draft day. Mingo coming off the edge is fast...REALLY fast! He strikes me as more of a Jason Taylor-esque (skinny/fast) outside pass rusher. He will get stood up with ease by many lager tackles, but his ability to judge the snap count and get around tackles before they even get out of their stance, is what makes him so dangerous. Though I believe that he'll be off the board when we pick, if he's there, I would be ALL for making him the pressure man opposite Wake.

His teammate Montgomery is a different type player. He's more of a "bull rush" attacker on the outside. He may not get to the QB as much as Mingo would in many cases, but he has a tendency to tie up more players in the backfield and force more "chaos". Even if he didn't get as many sacks as Mingo, he may be the more "disruptive" player. I imagine someone like that forcing a wall of dysfunction from the right, which would allow Wake to come in and absolutely crush QBs at an even higher percentage. On paper, I could see Montgomery being an even better fit for this defense than Mingo. If he declares for the draft, then I see him as being someone that could actually be on the board when we pick. I believe that he should be one of the top players on our board at 12.

Some were discussing Okafor (Texas) on here yesterday and I tend to agree that he could be a great fit. I don't believe that he's quite a "top 15" player, mainly because I believe that he's more of a "pass rush specialist" than a great all-around end. He may sneak into the late first round at this point, but if he's available in the second and we haven't addressed Wake's counterpart with our first pick...then he would be well worth a look.

One that did get me excited was DeAndre Hopkins (WR from Clemson). There were reports earlier in the year that we already had scouts checking him out at Clemson. I was pretty "meh" about the report until I really got to watch him play yesterday. This kid is legit...damn legit! This kid has everything...4.4 speed, intelligence, crisp routes, automatic hands, tough, and character. His numbers against one of the top defenses in the land yesterday (13 catches for 191 yards and 2 TDs) shows that he can play. He had to EARN those yards and scores, but at no point did he look over matched by a unit that currently sports a handful of first round draft pick defenders. We already know that Hopkins is on our radar...and I'm glad for it personally. After his showing yesterday, we should (IMO) be routing that he is Phin next year.
    Thanks again Phins1983!!!

I think mingo by combine time will come in at 250, who knows if it will actually stick though. One thing is for sure, scouts will be gushing over him once they see his measureables at the combine.

In a 4-3 he won't be a full time starter, and in a 3-4 he's pretty much set to be a every down pass rusher. I think there is no way we pass on him at 12. He fits the needs, the pick, and the value of this draft.

As for Hopkins I've been saying for awhile now I wouldn't be surprised if he pushed into the 1st round. Been a big fan of him for quite some time.

Glad to have ya back Vegas.

Since we have a new draft thread that is stickied and since I let this draft thread go past the allowed page limit, I have to close it now. All future draft threads will be merged to the official draft thread.

I think Montgomery and Mingo are way overrated. All they do is pin their ears back and go after the quarterback. They are completely lost when it comes to other aspects of game. You never see them set the edge, they always lose contain on running plays to their side. I think we can get a much more complete player with as much potential as those guys at our pick.
