Aaron Rodgers might not have played Sunday, but that didn’t mean the Green Bay Packers Pro Bowl quarterback had the day off while backup Matt Flynn piloted the team to a 45-41 regular season-ending victory over the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field.

When the Packers went to their no-huddle offense with Flynn at the controls, Rodgers had a headset and play-call sheet and made the calls from the sideline to Flynn’s in-helmet radio receiver.

“He was calling a lot of plays, getting us into spots,” Flynn explained. “He would either call the play or give me some feedback what he thought and we kind of went from there.”

FOX Sports’ cameras caught Rodgers on several first-half occasions making the calls on the sideline.

Asked if they had any other communication, Flynn replied: “I’ll kind of keep that between us, but he was kind of making me laugh out there. Being Aaron, he’s serious on the field and a goofball off the field. It was good to have him in my ear.”
