"Marlins purchased the contract of INF Donnie Murphy from Triple-A New Orleans.
He'll provide infield depth with Hanley Ramirez out of the picture and could see a decent number of starts at third base. Murphy has batted .302/.400/.726 with 13 homers at New Orleans this season."
Seems like Solano and Donnie Murphy will be the future at 3B for the remainder of the season. I'll be seeing him tonight, got free tix. I was actually about to buy some for tomorrow because I wanted to see Eovaldi's debut with us, but free is free.
"Nathan Eovaldi tossed 5 1/3 innings of one-run ball as the Marlins topped the Padres by a score of 4-2.
It was Eovaldi's first start as a member of the Fish, and he did not disappoint. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out five batters and scattered five hits and two walks. He'll carry a cool 3.94 ERA into his next scheduled start against the Braves."
/what do you guys think about us getting chase headley from the Padres? Move him to 3rd, move Solano to LF, send morrison for some development.
Every team has been linked to Headley, it'd be tough to get him. Not to mention we really really don't have very good prospects other than Yelich who is our future at LF. I like Solano better as a util guy, not an everyday player in my book.
JJ didn't have a good outing at all... gave up 2 hits and 6 walks and only got through 5 innings of work. I don't think it hurt his trade value but it definitely didn't help. I really think if he had come out and dominated, and strung together back to back great games, other GMs would feel much more confident trading for him. We'll see... two days left.
