The Canucks can look at it this way, if he leaves Nashville, he does not sign with Detroit, San Jose (shopping Dan Boyle), and Nashville. Simultaneously hurting the west while the Canucks still have a top four of Hamhuis, Bieksa, Edler (assuming they can resign him) and Garrison all under 30 signed for at least 3 more years. There is a plus regardless of the bad.

He's not an overwhelming NEED. Not like a 2nd line winger or a 3rd line C. We have an above-average D corp now. I'm not surprised they wouldn't break the bank for him.
