The Canucks can look at it this way, if he leaves Nashville, he does not sign with Detroit, San Jose (shopping Dan Boyle), and Nashville. Simultaneously hurting the west while the Canucks still have a top four of Hamhuis, Bieksa, Edler (assuming they can resign him) and Garrison all under 30 signed for at least 3 more years. There is a plus regardless of the bad.
I didn't think weber signing here was ever a realistic possibility.
Apparently the Canucks did think about giving him an offer sheet but they thought NSH would match it.
