Well that was certainly unexpected, but it's not the first time Homer has offered a contract to a RFA. I'd rather see the picks go the other way, this team is already very young so losing those picks shouldn't hurt too much. Plus by trading the picks rather than players we will be even more serious contenders this year.

apparently, according to eklund (yes i know), this is also what has been holding up any trade talks for Bobby Ryan between the Flyers and ANA.

Honestly, There is NO WAY that the pred don't match this.

Lose Weber/Suter/Parts of there already Crap offense ---> No Playoffs for a few seasons ---> Fanbase Dies ---> Franchise Dies ---> No more Nashville.

Either way the preds are screwed.....

Sign Weber --->Lose Suter/And parts if there already crap offense ---> Cant Sign good players ---> No Playoffs for a few seasons ---> Fanbase Dies ---> Franchise Dies ---> No more Nashville.

With the terms of the contract and up front money I don't think the Preda will be able to match. I believe we've seen another genius move from Homer here.

i think they'll see what they can do over the next 2 days. if they can't match, they'll do everything they can to get Homer to make a trade for him.

if that's the case, Homer better not go soft and give up Couts or Schenn or really anyone of significant value. he has no reason to.

This is the same talk we were saying last year about Stammer, even if we didn't offer him a sheet.

that's really the difference, though. the Flyers never made an offer.

I think Tampa was bluffing with the "we'll match any offer" stuff they were talking. I mean when it comes to bigger market teams...ok I understand you following up that statement. But a team like Nashville, in a smaller market than Philly, can't afford the front-loaded, heavy signing bonuses that teams like the Flyers can. I don't see how they can match it financially
