if theres a chance for a short term deal why not look at brodeur..he may be old but I think he's still an upgrade with playoff experience that not many have on the leafs.

Brian Burke should not be allowed to sign any UFA's based on history

Kind of funny the only FA he's really hit on has been MacArthur, and from what Burke said and from other information, it seems that Nonis and others were the ones who pushed for that.

He's struck out on basically everyone else. Komisarek, Gustavsson, Armstrong, Connolly, Orr.
"The way they play offense here is difficult for any quarterback," he said. "Every snap is an incredible decision. They're in a one-back offense, they can't run the ball against certain looks so they have to audible to some kind of a pass or a creative run to get away from trouble.
"There's never a play in the game where Stafford can just turn around, hand the ball off and catch his breath. Every play he's researching the defense and they throw as much as anyone."

The age-less Ray Whitney is also a UFA, i would look at him too. He only made $3M... but again i think he's going to a contender (DET).

Beauchemin was decent here, though. I think he basically became a scapegoat for the D's troubles. Plus Burke was able to turn him into Gardiner and Lupul, he gets a pass on that one. Plus I think he was signed for 3.5M, that was a good price for him.

Leafs now have $14.8 Million to spend with the Army buy-out. If the Leafs buy-out another injury plagued player (lombardi) then we will have over $17M in cap space.

I dont think Burke would start buy-outs unless he plans on using the cap this year. He's going all out folks...

Army is trending in Canada and Schultz isn't. Twitter logic tells us that Army >>>>>> Schultz

    Colby Armstrong‏@armdog
Thanks to the leaf nation for the support over the last couple seasons. Although I had tough luck thanks for everything. ‪#lotsleftinme‬

Saves us $2M and Prust is asking for $1.8M? I like Arm dog but i think thats a good trade off.

I hate how Leaf fans defend the Beau signing because of what Burke got in return for him...he was a bad UFA signing...nothing against you BJR

I posted in another thread that we need a veteran forward like Whitney. When we went on that slide, it seemed like we needed someone to step up and lead us out of it...someone who's won before. That's the problem with being "one of the youngest teams in the league" or whatever the line is.
