Well, since you can't bump old threads anymore - I thought I'd make a new one to revisit this discussion.
Does anyone still think Pedroia is even in the discussion anymore?![]()

You realize that Pedroia is playing with a torn muscle, right?
To those that do not know mathematics it is difficult to get across a feeling as to the beauty, the deepest beauty of baseball. If you want to learn about baseball, to appreciate baseball, it is necessary to understand the language she speaks.
You can probably add Kipnis and Altuve to the top 10 list, or even top 5.
But Cano has been the best this year so far, and I would say he is the answer now.

Correct. You do realize that Cano is completely separating himself as the best 2B in baseball, right?

Yes. So?
That isn't what your initial post said. You said Pedroia is no longer the best second basemen. He isn't, but he is also playing with a torn muscle for the last 6 weeks.
And of course Pedroia is still in the discussion, you don't remove a player for 2.5 months of average play.

I was shredded for 30+ pages when I said Cano was the best 2B in the league, literally. Pedroia was the main guy people were arguing for.

And at that time, Pedroia and Zobrist were the right answers.
This year, Cano is the only one of those three (and you can probably add Kinsler) that have continued to play at that level.
By the end of the season, that could be different, but right now, it's Cano.
Is it hard to believe that players values change as we continue to play the game?

I love it. A person has a fantastic year "He's the best 2b!" A person has a down year, "This guy is the best 2b!"
Congrats. Cano is statistically probably the best 2b in 2012. That's great. You're argument includes the fact that Pedroia has a torn muscle and is playing through it. Good call!
Pointless thread, per usual with these type of "I told you so" threads.
Cano has obviously been the best 2B this season with Kinsler not too far behind. As for Pedroia, he's playing hurt on a team managed by Bobby Valentine. That should say something...
