Chicago Cubs call up Anthony Rizzo - Will Play Tuesday

Anthony Rizzo pulled in the 4th inning of today's Iowa Cubs game. Pack your bags kid. Chi-town is waiting. No word from Cubs yet though.

Well the Cubs suck, but hey, maybe Rizzo wont. Move if you feel necessary, but figured he's big prospect news on a slow news day.

MLB is going to be very exciting.

Harper, Trout, Bauer, and now Rizzo. Really fun to watch and looks like promising futures for all of them. MLB is starting to flip pages.. old stars fading out, new ones in.

Examples like A-Rod no longer being the one man wrecking crew he was, but Harper slowly becoming a star. Or maybe Manny no longer being the best hitter in the game at one point, but now Trout starting to blossom into a star right in front of our eyes. The next 10 years are going to be very exciting to watch in the MLB.. especially with Harper being a FA at 25

Just looked at Rizzo's stats.. wow. Kid crushing the ball down there. He has some real potential to be a big player in the Cubs future. Looking down the road, seeing Castro and Rizzo in a lineup could work out very well for the Cubs.. now they need some pitching.

Ya the Cubs had to wait until a certain date to call him and then they would gain an extra year on him. Regardless though...I think it was a good move to wait on bringing him up. He could have been up a month ago easily but no need to rush him. His swing has gotten better...he struggled during his call up last year because he had hole in his swing being too long. They have since shortened it up so we'll see if it pays off in the bigs.

Rizzo and Castro are two great pieces to build your line up around. Josh Vitters is hitting .290 with 13 home runs so I expect him up in September. Jackson is struggling a bit but if he can get it together the Cubs have these guys going into next year
    C-Wellington Castillo
    1st-Rizzo
    3rd-Vitters
    OF-Jackson
2nd-Barney(unless traded) Not bad going into another rebuilding season. 2015 I see them winning the central

I still can't believe what they gave up to get Rizzo, he was an absolute steal.

Cubs won the trade from the beginning in my opinion but I still think in Petco Cashner should have a good career if healthy.

The top prospects called up this year remind me of three years ago when Heyward, Stanton, Posey, Castro and Santana got the call up.

    yup, me too.

And last year it was sort of underwhelming.
