    Bulls Offer Deng To Warriors

A crowd favourite in Chicago and described as the "glue" of the team by his coach, such a move is being seen by many as a retaliatory measure by the Bulls after Deng made his stand to compete for Great Britain.

Deng might earn close to £15m per year with the Bulls but the club own him lock stock and barrel, and he is not permitted to play any part in negotiations about his future or even be told if negotiations are underway. He could wake up any morning to discover that he has been traded to another club.

Following his decision to play for Great Britain despite a wrist tendon injury, the Bulls General Manager Gar Forman, who called Deng in from holiday for a meeting earlier this month, is understood to have offered the Warriors Deng and the 29th pick in the NBA draft on Thursday for centre Andris Bierdrins, small forward Dorrell Wright and the seventh pick in the draft. The Bulls badly want the 7th pick to recruit a shooting guard to act as cover for Derrick Rose who will miss next season following ACL surgery.

"I believe there is always, to some extent, truth behind rumours," says Deng who is at the GB Olympic camp in Houston. "As an athlete though, if you get caught up in them, you are really wasting your time because its not something you can control.

"If I was a GM I would be shopping around for players too. They have got to show that they do something! A lot of GMs don't just sit there, they're trying their options.

"Me, I always say there are two things when trades happen . If I was to be let go by a team and nobody picks me up, that's probably the worst thing. But whenever you hear your name in a trade, that means there is somebody at the other end who wants you.

"If it's not true the GM could always come out and say it's not true. But if the GM doesn't come out and say it, there are probably talks. And there should be.

"As much as I want to stay on the team - I love Chicago, I love the Bulls - at the same time I know the business part of it. Sooner or later, all the rumours are going to come up. At the end of the day there are no hard feelings and I'm not a 21 year old kid who will get upset by it. I understand the game.

"I dont think they are paying me back for the Olympics. As a GM that's his job to try and get the team healthy and ready for next year. I understand both sides of it. But again it comes down to a bad injury that happened at the wrong time. I just try to let people know I'm going to be ok."

Deng, although taking part in light training at the GB camp, will not be playing any of the friendly games while in USA but is expected to appear in most of the eight warm-up games they have organised in Europe before the Olympics. After the Olympics he will decided if he needs surgery on the wrist, in which case he will miss the first part of the NBA season.

Who do the Bulls take with the 7th?

    Austin Rivers? Jeremy Lamb?

One report was that they love Rivers. No idea how valid that is.

Great trade for the Warriors. Give up the seventh pick and get rid of Biedrins and get an all star in Deng.

As a Bulls fan, he deserves every right to play after the sacrifice he made to play through injury with us this season.

With that said, next season is likely lost with Rose probably not 100% till 2013-2014 season. Deng, meanwhile, will be 29 by end of 2014 and will likely look for a big extension by then. With this move, Bulls get younger and get significantly more financial flexibility, younger and less injury prone while Warriors get a great vet presence and become very good defensively very quickly with Bogut and now possibly Deng.

Good trade for the Warriors. Deng is still young (just turned 27 in April) and he's consistent, he had a bit of a down year, but he's going to give the Warriors 16 and 6 to go along with great defense.

    Curry

    Thompson

    Deng

    Lee

    Bogut

are a playoff team provided everyone is healthy.

Wright is a pretty good player, cheap, and young. With him we'd end up getting a good SG in the draft to get next to Rose.
