Gardner is an honorable mention, but not the fastest. Small white man Gardner!

And it depends what you are asking.

Do things like hitting triples and stealing bases make somebody a 'fast baseball player' since those are things that we attribute to speed. But just because you do those things doesn't mean you are fast. Yadi Molina has how many stolen bases already?

The fastest guy in baseball right now to first base is Tony Campana though, in terms of getting to full speed quickly and being a good sprinter.

Tony Campana but, my god I can't wait to see Billy Hamilton. Dee Gordon is another trail blazer.

He also has very little power.

In the end, I expect him to have a decent average in the MLB, with little walks and little power. A lot of those doubles and triples have been him feasting off of minor league mistakes. Singles into doubles, type of thing.

In the MLB, teams will challenge him. All the time.

I think he'll have some decent value but I'm not exactly the highest on Hamilton.
    Stoops....there it is!
    Fix it. Fix it good.

Also, to answer the question, currently, it's Tony Campana and it's not really close.

    Did you know....

That Billy Hamilton has stolen 5 bases this year on pitch outs.

He is very fast, and his higher OBP helps him greatly.

He could be the first 100 stolen base guy in the big leagues since Coleman in 87.

Jose Constanza, he sucks and isn't on the roster right now but when he is up with the Braves he makes Bourn look slow.

    uhhh, it's very close actually.

Campana might be the right answer, but there are plenty of guys right on his heels.

What type of speed are we talking about? pure base stealing speed? home to first speed? first to third speed? triple speed? 40 yd dash? 100m? 200m? 400m? many guys have short bursts of speed that are unmatched but can be beaten on triples by guys with long strides gaining momentum

Dexter Fowler is a good example, only slightly above average at stealing bases, but in a very elite category of legging out triples

GK NOT OK FIRE GEORGE KARL TODAY
I'll do anything to get George Karl fired..... ANYTHING
