Steve Nash (signs with Rockets; 4 years, 70M)

    Mr. Nash,

The name Phoenix Suns and the name Steve Nash are almost interchangeable. When we drafted you in 1996, we knew what a special player you were destined to be. During your ten seasons here you have enjoyed remarkable success, including two MVP seasons. You hold many Phoenix Sun all time records including the most assists and 3 pointers made. We have a keen understanding and appreciation of history and what Steve Nash means to the Phoenix Suns organization. It would pain us greatly to see you in a different uniform. We want you to retire as a Sun and cement your legacy as the greatest Phoenix Sun to ever play the game. We do realize your strong desire to win and that is why we have cleared out the team to create cap space in order to retain yourself and add another prized free agent for you to play alongside. We have no thoughts of rebuilding, and we are 100% committed to seeing Steve Nash win his first championship here in the Valley of the Sun. We have already brought in All-Star Zach Randolph, giving you the best low post scoring option that you have ever had a chance to play with. You are well accustomed to the great care our training staff provides especially for your back, and we doubt another team will be able to offer you the same level of care.

Money will not be an issue. To us, money means respect. Steve, we respect you more than you could ever know and we are prepared to offer you more money than you could get on the open market. We humbly ask of you to allow us to use our cap space to sign the prized free agent for you to play alongside. Once they are signed, we will exceed the cap and offer you a maximum deal. The greatest player in the history of our organization deserves nothing less than to get paid the max, while competing for a championship in the place you have called home for ten years. We are the only team who can make that happen for you.

    Sincerely,
    The Phoenix Suns

    Mr.Nash,

We find it appauling that you have yet to get a real offer. We believe that you would have a legitamate chance to contend here in Cleveland. We have a great mixture of experience and youth on the team right now are depth chart is

    PG: ?/Kendall Marshall/Norris Cole
    SG: Tyreke Evans/Jordan Crawford
    SF: Caron Butler
    PF: David Lee
    C: Joakim Noah

This team is in need of 3 things. A starting PG, a leader , and someone to help progress our young talented gaurds. We believe that you fill all 3 of those roles. Which is why we would like to give a offer of

    Year 1: $14,000,000
    Year 2: $14,630,000
    Year 3: $15,316,700
    Year 4: $16,005,952

    Total: $59,952,652

Thank you for your time Steve and we hope you consider Cleveland as a possible landing spot.

    Mr. Nash,

We don't don't want you to feel disrespected by not having an offer yet, but once again we would like to reiterate that regardless whether Mr. Wade signs with us, you still have a max contract offer from us.

    Mr. Steve Nash,

We hope you enjoyed your vacation. We wanted to provide you with an exciting update. As you know, we have been engaged in ongoing negotiations with Dwayne Wade and his agent. Here’s what he had to say about playing with the Suns:

“He loves the idea of playing out in the desert in a fast paced offense with Nash (assuming you sign him) and Randolph. He also feels that's a team 100% ready to compete now.”

“The grand picture is very nice. Wade is optimistic that you can cash in on the promises and retain your players. That being said Wade is defintely looking to hear some thoughts from Steve Nash before takign the next step towards your organization.”

As you can see, Mr. Wade feels like we are a team who is 100% ready to compete now. He also loves the idea of playing with you! However, he is hesitant to commit to us without first knowing that Steve Nash will be here to play with.

Steve, we’re committed to putting a championship caliber team around you. Please help us do that. If we could go to Mr. Wade, and tell him that Steve Nash would like to team up with him and Steve Nash is committed to resigning with the Phoenix Suns then that would go a long way in bringing Mr. Wade out to the desert.

We promise that we will pay you the maximum allowed once our cap space is used up. This means you’ll have the best of both worlds, money and competing for a championship. The race for Mr. Wade’s services is extremely competitive. Please arm us, your Phoenix Suns, with the verbal commitment of Steve Nash to be here if we can sign Mr. Wade.

    Sincerely,
    Your Phoenix Suns

    Mr.Nash,

The Cavaliers would like to give you an update of the team and offer. We are nearing a 3 way deal that would land former teamate and a freind of yours , Shawn Marion , in Cleveland. while cutting enough cap to give you max deal over 4 years. Even after we give you the deal you deserve we still have about 6.4 million to sign a FA SG such as Ray Allen. We could have the line up of

    PG: Yourself
    SG: Ray Allen
    SF: Shawn Marion
    PF: David Lee
    C: Joakim Noah

We think that team will become a contender and could get you the ring you rightfully deserve.

We would Love to hear from you soon.

Steve is intrigued by the options in front of him.

My client would like to let it be known that this point of his career, competing for an NBA Championship is absolutely his first priority.

While Cleveland's financial presentation is everything my client is looking for and then some he is not thoroughly convinced the product on the court, even with his addition, would be enough to separate itself in a highly competitive Eastern Conference. He would like to hear more from the Cavaliers on what the basis of their plans are and how they see themselves among the contenders in the East.

Steve would love nothing more to remain in Phoenix, but not at the expense of winning. The addition of Zach Randolph has him very excited, but he wants to be secure in the knowledge that a return to the Suns is a return to an absolutely legitimate championship contender. The addition of Wade would obviously be pivotal in this decision and my client has no issue waiting. He feels that as the younger marquee point guards come off the market, the opportunities for him will grow exponentially.

My client is prepared to play the waiting game although he eventually expects an official offer from the Suns to be on the table.

    Steve,

We are pleased to hear that you have no problem waiting. We will go and tell Mr. Wade the news in hopes that knowing you are waiting on his decision to possibly team up will sway him to join us, thus bringing you back to Phoenix. Even if Mr. Wade decides not to join us, we would still love to have you back and will offer you a max contract.

Glad to hear from you Steve, and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

    Steve,

Unfourtanley the deal to land Marion in cleveland is dead. But we still are exploring options to cut cap and give you the max deal you deserve. If we can cut cap we could still have a great line up of

    PG: Yourself
    SG: Tyreke Evans
    SF: Tayshuan Prince
    PF: David Lee
    C: Joakim Noah

We believe that team is a top team in the east and could win a title soon. We will give you updates as we progress. We will soon have a max offer on the table for you to consider.

    Mr. Nash,

First and foremost, the Indiana Pacers' Front-Office wants to congratulate you for the Hall-of-Fame career you've had. We also want to say that we have been done careful listening throughout the Wade negotiations as well as keeping a close ear to what is going on with your own Free Agent status.

After much consideration, we wanted to prove to both yourself and Mr. Wade how much we are about winning a championship and that we came prepared to go into Free Agency with the ability to really make a championship contender off of the already very strong core we had.

Mr. Nash, the Indiana Pacers went into Free Agency with a core of Stephen Curry, Danny Granger, Kenneth Faried, and holding the RFA rights' to Roy Hibbert and being able to offer Mr. Wade a max-contract and retain the rights to Roy Hibbert at ANY cost. We were the only team to be able to go into Free Agency with the ability to have such a strong core as well as the financial flexibility to do what we intend to do to make the Pacers a championship contender.

Mr. Nash, we know that a chance to play with Mr. Wade is very enticing for you, but unfortunately to say that there isn't a team that is bidding for Wade's service is also able to simultaneously offer you a contract that is appreciative of everything you've done. This is where the Indiana Pacers' Front-Office is going to prove to not only you, but as well as Mr. Wade how serious we are about winning a championship.

Mr. Nash, as soon as Roy Hibbert signs his extension, we are willing to commit the rest of our cap-space to you in an attempt to be able to sign both you and Mr. Wade at the same time.

Mr. Nash, we know your heart may still be in Phoenix, but if winning a championship is truly your focus and intention. There is no supporting cast that can present you that opportunity as close as us, if we were to sign you and Mr. Wade at the same time. We cannot make that official offer quite yet until Hibbert signs with us, but he should be signing here rather shortly. Once that happens, we will offer you a very respectable and fair deal. This would also mean that you'd have your first offer from a true championship contender here very soon.

But once again, Mr. Nash, this is us gauging your interest in potentially coming to Indiana.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and even more so, we look forward to providing you an official offer.

Oh, and one last thing Mr. Nash,

If you are concerned about starting. Don't be. You will be the promised starting PG for this team once we make an official offer to you and Curry would move to a 6th man role where that will further strengthen this team.

    Mr. Nash,

We hope you don't feel rushed into taking a deal for roughly 10 million dollars cheaper, when you could just wait possibly another day or two to see where Mr. Wade ends up. Like we mentioned before, no matter what happens, we still plan on offering you the max contract you deserve.

We are also surprised the Pacers are just now coming for your services so late. We hope you take it into consideration that we were the very first team to contact you because we genuinely wanted you whether we landed a prized free agent or not, and brought in veterans like Zach Randolph, Stephen Jackson, and Mike Miller (playoff champions, and vets). It seems to us that you were an after thought and the Pacers wouldn't have even offered for you if they weren't trying to sign Mr. Wade.

Thanks for your time, hope to hear from you soon Mr. Nash

    Mr. Nash,

We will only say this until we make our official offer. Who will put their money where their mouth is? Who will live up to their promise first of making a legitimate offer? Who is more primed to be a contender? What's more important: winning or money?

You've given Phoenix 8 years of your career to get where? We are giving you a legitimate shot now. Not only to be on a true contender, but also to be in a position to sign simultaneously with Mr. Wade.

We won't keep saying we'll make an offer AFTER we sign Mr. Wade. We're saying we'll make an offer very soon, so we can sign both you and Mr. Wade right now.

To show you, we are about business. We are about winning. We are about making our players happy.

    Mr. Nash,

We have very exciting news!!! We have been able to clear cap to offer you the max. We also have agreed to a trade with Clippers to put Chauncey Billups and Deandre Jordan in a Cavs uniform. If you were to join our team we would have a possible depth chart of

    PG: Yourself/Chauncey Billups
    SG: Tyreke Evans/Chauncey Billups
    SF: Tayshuan Prince
    PF: David Lee/Larry Sanders
    C: Deandre Jordan

We believe that we have a great mixture of Youth and Expereince , and Offense and Defense. This team can contend with any team in the league with you leading the team. We think you deserve to be the star of the team you lead to a title. And if you see any issues with the team we will make the changes.

    Here is the offer sheet:

    4-Year Contract:
    Year 1: $19,144,272
    Year 2: $20,580,092
    Year 3: $22,123,599
    Year 4: $23,782,869
    Total: $85,630,832

    The new guys...

    Steve,

We wanted to swing by and provide with some information on the new guys we've brought into Phoenix to help you win that first championship:

Please enjoy this clip of Zach Randolph:
    http://youtu.be/J-C0Dtxw-aQ

The video we choose to show you is a little long, but you only need to watch the first 2 minutes of it to get the idea. Zach Randolph is the complete package. His ELITE post play is on full display. He shows that he can take defenders off the dribble and score. He shows off his range by knocking down jumpers. This range is important because when you are handling the ball, Zbo will not be clogging that paint for you. Instead he can operate effectively outside of the paint and hit the jumper if you choose to dish it to him. And best of all, Zbo shows off his passing ability. This passing ability is important because Zach Randolph generates double teams, and he is a willing passer. Teams are going to have some tough decisions to make, double off of Mr. I Don’t Miss 3 Pointers Steve Nash or let Zbo go to work 1 on 1.

Here are some quotes about Zbo from the announcers:
    “All time great individual”
“He’s doing this against great defense”
    “The Powerful Zach Randolph”
    “Taking over the game”

We hope you are excited about playing with Mr. Randolph.

    Sincerely,
    Your Phoenix Suns
    Brooklyn Nets

    Steve,

Please enjoy this clip of Stephen Jackson:
    http://youtu.be/Lm6hepN6L84

We have already talked to you about what a great teammate Stephen Jackson is. This video highlights his ELITE clutch 3 point shooting ability. Stephen Jackson is the perfect 3rd or 4th option on a team. When the team needs it, he will be there to knock it down.

    Some quotes from the announcers:
“Captain Jack! This is what he does best”
“No one loves pressure more than Stephen Jackson”
“He’s getting his Steve Kerr act on”

The great thing about Jack is that he’s been doing this a long time.

Please enjoy this clip from 2008-2009:
    http://youtu.be/islD-3EHNz4

In 2008-2009 he averaged 20.7 pgg, 5.1 rpg, 6.5apg, and 1.5 spg. Those are elite numbers. You’re going to have this guy as a 3rd or 4th option. This video highlights Jack’s all around game because he can put it on the floor and take it to the hoop as well. His 6.5 assists show that he’s a great passer from the SF spot and his 1.5 steals show that he’s a lockdown defender.

    Sincerely,
    Your Phoenix Suns
    Brooklyn Nets
