Under the new CBA, all teams are granted the opportunity to cut one of their players with no further financial obligation toward that player. In other words, any one player cut here (and it is one per team) counts nothing toward your team's payroll.
The following teams have already exercised this provision and may not amnesty another player:
Brooklyn Nets - Travis Outlaw
Cleveland Cavaliers - Baron Davis
Golden State Warriors - Charlie Bell
Indiana Pacers - James Posey
New York Knicks - Chauncey Billups
Orlando Magic - Gilbert Arenas
Portland Blazers - Brandon Roy
-----
Atlanta Hawks - Marvin Williams
Boston Celtics - JaJuan Johnson
Chicago Bulls - Richard Hamilton
Dallas Mavericks - Brendan Haywood
Denver Nuggets - Al Harrington
Detroit Pistons - Charlie Villanueva
Houston Rockets - Marcus Morris
Los Angeles Clippers - Ryan Gomes
Memphis Grizzlies - Jeremy Pargo
Miami Heat - Mike Miller
Milwaukee Bucks - Beno Udrih
Minnesota Timberwolves - Wesley Johnson
New Orleans Hornets - Emeka Okafor
Oklahoma City Thunder - Daequan Cook
Phoenix Suns - Josh Childress
Sacramento Kings - John Salmons
San Antonio Spurs - Corey Joseph
Toronto Raptors - Amir Johnson
Utah Jazz - Earl Watson
Washington Wizards - Rashard Lewis
Amnestied players will not automatically be dispersed into the free agent pool. If a team with cap space has interest in an amnestied player, the GMs of that team will PM all three commissioners (ebbs, Corey, and myself) with their blind bid for that player. If you don't understand how this process works or have any questions, feel free to ask one of us what the hell I'm talking about.
