Wow. I was just coming on here to say that I'm feeling a little nervous about Brodeur and Parise. Of the two, and considering the $ factor, I'd rather have Brodeur. Seeing him retire elsewhere would be awful.

Parise, however, looks as good as gone at this point. I don't know where the team would get the money with all that debt they suddenly have...

Marty said in his interview this morning that Lou acknowledge that Devils are having financial trouble but the devils did go to the forefront for Zach and he fully expects Zach to be back.

I like 'em a lot too, though I wonder if we're going to start seeing some younger goalies coming up soon. Johan and Marty are an awesome duo, but there's not too much more left in their tanks...

Lou dropped the ball here, big time! Signing Kovy to a disgrace of a contract was the first nail in Zach Parise's coffin. Great teams lock up there superstars before they become UFA's. Zach should have been signed to an extension, but instead we have a 100 million dollar floater.

Sorry for the rant guys, but this franchise just took a giant step backwards. I'd also like to wish Zach the best of luck in Minny, the fans will love him over there.

Well this is disappointing, although admittedly that was a lot of money ($98 million over 13 years). Of course, that's similar to the Kovy deal, but whatever...

''It's a very unfortunate thing when you have a player of his stature that comes right through the ranks and, at this given time a decision is made to go elsewhere. But right now there's nothing we can do about that and our plans are going forward.''

Lamoriello said he met with Parise and his representatives in Toronto on Saturday, and made what he called a competitive offer. In later discussions with Parise, Lamoriello said, the player made clear he wanted an opportunity to play in his home state.

''Zach told me that if it wasn't going home to Minnesota, it would be coming to New Jersey,'' Lamoriello said. ''I respect that.''

I don't like that. The reason Parise was so big for us was his heart and hustle. He went to the boards hard and back checked harder and that rubbed off on the team. Kovy does not have the second effort and I'm scared its going to rub off on the team as well.

Whats next?
idk, but im hoping Henrique can continue his work ethic because he was like Parise.

Do you guys think we bring someone in via trade, and if so who do we ship out to get him?
