Can you tell I visit Yahoo! Sports a lot? Blog post stating that the reason Semin hasn't yet been signed is that he's basically a pain in the ***:
    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...5351--nhl.html

It's no secret that he isn't exactly well-liked in the Washington dressing room, and the idiotic July 1 rants from Marc Crawford and Pierre McGuire are certainly based on the perception that he's more trouble than he's worth. And given his ability to produce goals and points consistently, that has to be a lot of trouble.

It's easy to write that kind of talk off as xenophobia, because that's exactly what it is. But certainly, Semin's perceived issues are a huge part of why he's not signed.

He's not that bad. The media really hates this guy, and sad part is he doesn't even attempt to defend himself.

That would be a mistake. I don't want to see Semin and Kovy on the same line, same type of players.

He hasn't been signed yet so im guessing there's a good reason for it. And I think its been a little too quite around the F.O . so im hoping that means they are up to something

I would like the Devils to try to sign Semin. I think he would work well with the team.

Oh, and my kind of drunk self (it's friday so cut me some slack) feels that anyone who says Semin is going to sign with the Pens is kind of a tool. Not a complete tool, but just kind of a tool.

Well, recent word via Yahoo! is that Semin's in talks with my least favorite of non-Atlantic Division teams, the Carolina Hurricanes.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-pu...4132--nhl.html

That sentiment reached Carolina Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford, but while he's expressed interest in Semin's services, he's also being cautious. He told Chip Alexander of the News and Observer earlier this month that the Hurricanes would be interested in Semin on a short contract, adding, "We wouldn't want to get locked in to anything, because we've all heard the stories about him."

Rutherford reiterated his interest on Friday during the team's FunFest, saying he's spoken with Semin's agent in the past week several times.
Slight contact at best, but it's something. Not sure what to think about this...
