Lol I wish but no sir we cannot lol......sadly because of us being Philadelphia fans we have to suffer, and this is part of it. Not only this but also we were a top 3 pick 5 games ago, and played our way to #8, I believe, as of now.

That being said clearly unless we make a trade with FLA or COL - Jones and Drouin are OUT of the question.

We may of even played ourselves our of the Nurse pack too.

Leaving us with a Rasmus Ristolainen or Ryan Pulock. But I'll be praying Nurse is there. If he's not will we reach up for those two or settle with BPA like we did with Couts?

I read a few things about the Pulock kid the other day.....he's supposed to have an absolute bomb of a shot...said it has been clocked at 101. That could bring a whole new dimension to the offensive game......don't know much about him, but that sure is pretty intriguing.....and he's rated pretty high so I'm assuming the rest of his game doesn't suck either....

I understand the players want to win, but these wins like cost us in this draft. They're wins none of us will remember, or care about, but if we lost out on the ability to draft a truly premium talent.....we will remember that.
    Stoops....there it is!

Let's stop whining about the draft position. We went 6-1 in our last 7 games beating 5 playoff teams and playing pretty solid defensively. We only gave up 3 goals three times and the rest of the games we gave up 2 or less. This is a good sign for next year.

The flyers were arguably the most disappointing team this year in the league as we were the 5th seed. I know that it's a shortened season and it would be great to get a top 5 pick since it would only be 48 games of torture instead of 82, but that didn't happen. We know what this team is capable of and they just didn't do it this year due to all the injuries and inconsistency.

That said, if this is the draft thread lets talk about the players in the draft.

The team beat a whole bunch of playoff teams who had all but wrapped up their seeding using players who wont be on the roster for much of next season. I honestly don't see any reason why this little ending winning spree is any good sign.

Too often people delve too much into poor teams winning a few games at the end. In the end, losing would have been better. Sucks to say, but it's true.

It's not whining so much as acknowledging the truth.

As i mentioned in the Next Season thread, at this position we are likely looking at Pulock, Ristoleinen, Zadorov for defense and Monahan, Domi, and Shinkaruk offensively.

Ive been intrigued recently by Pulock and Shinkaruk. Pulock has an absolute bomb from the point and hes right handed. Hell definitely help fill the need for offense on the back end. Shinkaruk is small, only 5'11" and 175lbs. That said, hes got a great shot and simply put he knows how to put the puck in the net. Hes also got great speed and a high hockey IQ from what ive read.

Itll be an interesting draft for sure. Crucial offseason for the Flyers.

Well I think we either trade up or trade the pick just makes sense to me since we fell back to 11th/pick..
We need a #1 puck moving defenseman and a legit goal scorer and since Mason will be the #1 goaltender we will need a backup.
That 1st pick in the draft is great leverage to use as part trade bait against either that defenseman or that goal scorer.....Our #1 and say Lauridsen for Shattenkirk should be enough after Lauridsen's brief NHL debute I think it may have left a nice impression for a rookie defenseman + that #1 pick...Sign David Clarkson and if not then I hate to say it but Couts + Couburn for Bobby Ryan..Sign perhaps Mike Smith as the backup to Mason...

Buy out Bryz and his 5.5/mil gone and Briere and his 6.5/mil gone....Sign Gags but only if he is willing to say 2/mil..Mat Walker and his 1.7/mil gone and Shelly and his 1.1/mil gone ,Knuble and his $750.000/gone..Lilja and his $750.000/gone..Adam Hall and his $650.000/gone (maybe)..Kurtis Foster gone..Gervais or Huskins keep one ....This is just my thoughts at this time, who knows......I just wish we can somehow get what we need without loosing Couts or Read but dont think its pssible only if Briere didnt get hurt before the trade deadline....

I like Ristoleinen and Monahan but I think we trade up and if not we then trade the pick in a package to get that puck moving defenseman or that legit goal scorer.....

Such a waste. We all knew we would play well to screw us in the draft and just miss the playoffs.... When the flyers disappoint they do so in amazing fashion.

Look at the box scores man. You'll see the same TOI numbers as you would in the middle of the season. The last game we played ottawa who is fought to get points to avoid playing the penguins. Erik Karlsson came back from his incredibly fast recovery and many people were wondering how much playing time. It was said he might be in a reduced role but then 3 minutes more than the next highest player on any team. So much for a team who uses players that won't be on the roster for much of the season.

You can't give me that crap that the Flyers were playing teams that didn't care. They fought hard and won 6 solid games against solid teams. Everyone is panicking because of the terrible season we had. Am I the only one here who has faith in the team?

In this shortened season we had 23 compared to the islanders' 24. Throw away all the overtime loss points and we're basically in the playoffs. A sharty start like they had in a shortened season doesn't give you much time to adjust. Some teams were better at that than others.

Give the league 10 more games from this point on and maybe we make the playoffs if we continue our play the last few games. So THAT is why the winning spree is a good sign.

Yes we don't have the 8th pick but I've been hearing a lot of people say wonders of the depth in the first round. It sounds like aside from the first 3 picks, the rest of the pack is pretty close.

Who knows, maybe the 1.5% comes up big and repays us for the patrick kane that we should have gotten in 2007.
