This thread is simple. Would you have accepted the trade?

During the 2009 nhl draft. Leafs sat @ the 7th pick. Brian Burke mentioned the Leafs were offered the 1st pick (John Tavares) for 7th pick (Nazeem Kadri) + Luke Schenn (2008 5th)

Giving up 2 lottery picks for Tavares would've been costly, but it would have provided us with the centre the Leafs have been lacking since Sundin left town.

Yes. 10 out of 10 times you do that as the Leafs. I think Garth would have lost his job for that one. There is however, no way that is an actual offer the Isles made to the Leafs.

Adam Foote my ***. Foote was never a turnover machine. I don't know if Burke could of made that trade for Tavares or not. For all we know with this guy is that he could be blowing smoke out of his arse. If a deal including the 7th overall and Schenn was on the table and Burke said no he should be shot. Especially the hype surrounding Tavares and the talent and being a local boy. Not to mention a franchise centremen.

Umm.. i doubt this deal was ever offered. If it was Burke would have made it in a second. He said he was going to do everything to get John T but he wasn't able to.

I wasn't on this board when Schenn was drafted so i didn't hear the "adam foote" stuff, but i did hear Maguire have multiple orgasms when we pick him and he actually said "the rebuild is now started" or something like that. I'll admit i was excited. I've never been very high on luke but i still think he could be a very solid d man.

So to answer your question (assuming all things stay the same) i would easily do that deal.

But looking back how about getting Carter Or Richards and then getting Dustin Brown at the deadline. Add that to Luongo next year and wow we have a team

Kadri and Kulemin is all (apparently) it would have taken to get Richards.

i Dont see a reason to look back..whats done is done...no reason to further beat a ton of dead horses
and im pretty sure burke admitted he could have moved schenn and kadri for the first overall...someone else should be able to back that up on here.
