    What's up with Lincecum?

Is there an explanation for this terrible season?

His mechanics suck and its caught up with him because he can no longer repeat his delivery.

His velo is down. He's not blowing that high fastball by batters anymore.

His velocity was down at the beginning of the year, but it's been back up to 91/92. That's all good. His mechanics and control have been causing Zito flashbacks this year.

His mechanics are so unique that he can't consistently find a release point.

There is a very simple explanation.

He is 5'11 170. He has a wild delivery. AND most importantly, he has pitched over 200 innings for every year since is first full season in the league. He seriously needs to lessen the amount of innings he is throwing.

Wow, I thought he was 5'8 or something. Makes me sad to know he's the same height as me.

The reason Lincecum is off has NOTHING to do with Innings pitched, or velocity.

He lost weight this off-season and frankly didn't come ready to play. He's not only off mechanically, but also off mentally, and furthermore off in stamina.

That's why he goes through 2-3 innings mowing everybody down, and then has one bad inning where .215 hitters light him up.

He still has every bit of his stuff, just ask Matt Kemp who went 0-3 with 3K's against Tim this year. But he's just not focused, not ready...

When his mechanics are way off in some starts his FB is 89 without command. Yesterday he started at 93...

I have a feeling he'll most likely rebound next season in a contract year, but there's a small chance he figures it out late in the year, to be at least decent.

Pitching coaches take guys out because their mechanics have deviated from the correct form. If the pitcher is fatigued, they will then pitch differently; its the pitching coaches' job to determine whether they are on or not. being on the mound, you cannot tell. Instead of using their entire body to throw, they rely on their arms too much. this leads to arm ligament issues which leads to tommy john surgery. It all stems from lack of energy.

He's been steadily declining in velo and K/9 the last few years and now everything has unraveled for him.

His K/9 is over 9. He's just getting hit hard and walking a lot of batters.
