#1 We aren't getting a Drabek+d'Arnaud return for a 38 year old knuckler guys.. Sorry, it ain't happening on any planet. Roy Halladay was one of the Top 3 pitchers in the game at the time.

#2 Blue Jays traded Roy because they had to. He was absolutely never going to re-sign with them. If they could have kept him, they would have. If Dickey wants to stay here (and all the comments from him show that he loves it here), then you hang onto him.

Unless we get offered Dylan Bundy or Trevor Bauer, it would be the dumbest move in history to move Dickey this offseason.
I love this post the most. Of course, this is all in hindsight so no blame can be given.

This. It's insane how things change.

As for this thread, one has to consider when it was made. People post with emotions. Period.

It was the middle of June, and we were in the race playing some inspired baseball. Dickey was tremendous, and so was Wright. As we fizzled off, and the off-season came, I and other started warming up to the idea of dealing Dickey.

Yeah just look at where we were when Dickey first came up. We were all caught up on his name and how odd he was for throwing a knuckleball. Then he went on that 6-0 run after coming up and we were all convinced he was going to falter.

Then he wins a Cy Young and now we're trading him for two impact prospects. There was absolutely no risk involved and almost no cost in bringing Dickey to the Mets. Looking at things broadly, we've basically received a team's #1 and #2 prospects for free.

    Funny isn't it? lol

If Dickey signed elsewhere, we get nothing.

Yeah it's amazing. This may turn out to be Omar's biggest move as Mets GM.
