Could the Yankees pick up Lincecum cheap?

He's by far the Giants worst pitcher this year. And we've seen this time and time again where pitchers have off years, but maybe he could be bought on the cheap.

The Giants are 2-10 with him on the mound this year and 31-15 with him not pitching.

If the Yanks offered a few prospects for him -- he's only 27 -- I think it could maybe get done. Maybe they could even throw Pineda in that deal.

It could certainly shore up the Yankees rotation for the next few years with Sabathia, Lincecum, Hughes and Nova.

In any other year, trading Lincecum would be unthinkable for the Giants - but a pitcher who is sure to recover, I think the chance to trade for him now would bring great reward.

I'd love it, but I can't imagine the Giants giving up so easily. I also think we're fairly depleted with prospects anymore. We used to be able to dangle the potential of the killer Bs but none of them really hold any value anymore. Romine is hurt and even if he weren't with the way Martin is playing we can't sacrifice a catching prospect, which is why we also need to hold on to Sanchez as insurance for Romine. Unfortunately I'm not sure we have much of anything to offer even if the Giants were selling low, which I doubt they would.

Seems like a terrible idea. He's been beyond horrendous this year and the Yankees really don't need another project pitcher.
