Mark Mcgwire 1998 vs Sammy Sosa 2001

Two monster seasons done by two steroid users. Which season was better. Mcgwire 1998 or Sosa 2001?

i thought it was a given fact that Sosa was pretty much better than McGuire the whole time....

btw, people gotta stop with this whole "steroids" crap. We can't be naive and think that only 2% of the baseball population used it. In a game where you can be overtaken by other players (free agents, people in the minors) and that you need to overtake people...AND that you're getting paid millions of bucks, you're not gonna tell me so few were taking roids. Just like those people that go to the gym take vitamins and suppliments, players take things...and even more expensive things. I still believe that some 30-50 percent was on something "illegal". And considering there are people still getting caught (mostly they mistakenly take something...but shows that players still try to get an edge by any means necessary, even if it means taking 100 fish pills a day). So please, lets stop with the whole roid issue.

    -Doesn't play BIGS
    -Dog Houses players
-HORRIBLE management of players and motivation

    Sosa 2001/Mcgwire 1998

    Avg: .328/.299
    OBP: .437/.470
    SLG: .737/.752
    OPS+: 203/216
    HR: 64/70
    RBI: 160/147

Some of the basic numbers. At first glance, McGwire's 1998 looks clearly better to me.

    Edit:

    fWAR 10.4/8.8

Hmmm... interesting. If were talking just with the stick, I still take McGwire's year, I think the difference in WAR is attributable to the fielding numbers.

McGwire out-hit Sosa for the two years.

But Sosa could play the outfield.

    But McGwire is the choice.

Well if we are going to evaluate 2 cheaters at times we know they where cheating I'll take Sosa because he used a corked bat in a game so he cheated twice as much as McGwire so Sosa wins

Mcgwire's 1998 season. Yeah steroids may have fuelled it but there was something magical about that whole run.
    Favourite Teams:

Boston Red Sox: Disappointing regular season, hoping for good things in 2015.
Indianapolis Colts: 5-2, Week 8 vs. Steelers
Dallas Mavericks: New team, hoping for good things this season.
Ottawa Senators: 4-1-0, games this week vs. Toronto, New Jersey, Chicago

Individually or if I'm constructing a team? Because if it's individually it's pretty much a toss up with defense and the all around game thrown into the mix. For constructing a team? Slammin' Sammy ten times out of ten...

What's the difference? They're both cheaters.
