Looks like Colt McCoy lost his job

Browns coach Pat Shurmur hinted today that he could name rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden his starter by the start of training camp in late July.

He said he'd like to name the starter "sooner rather than later," and the competition is playing out much as it did in St. Louis in 2010, when the Rams named No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford the starter at the beginning of fall camp.

    Sounds like Weeden is in...

Too bad. McCoy never really got a shot. They never put any real talent around him.

I usually root for the Texas guys so I have watched a few Browns games. I agree that they lacked the talent around him, but he clearly doesnt have NFL arm stregnth.

Smart thing to do imo. Not a fan of the pick by any means. But of you spend a 22 pick in the draft on a QB who will be 29 by season you cant sit him a year to learn.

Someone like the Seahawks, Eagles, or the Broncos should trade a late rounder for him. I haven't seen him play but his stats aren't bad, especially given the lack of talent around him.

Seahawks- Tavaris Jackson's questionable, maybe McCoy beats him?
Eagles- Mike Vick gets injured often and their only back-up is Kafka
Broncos- Even if Manning does hold up through the season, he's not playing many more years and they don't have a guy to develop/quality back-up.

Good, Colt McCoy is trash. I see him going to the Packers for a late round pick at some point.

He lost that job when he was born. Only 6'1''-ish with a weak arm. He was never going to be a real NFL starter.

    This.

Throwing nothing but dink and dunk passes worked at Texas because they were far more talented, but on the NFL level it just ain't gonna work long term.
