If we're all such great coaches why do we recruit so hard? You need players.

I'm a bit confused by the question, I thought we already had 2-3 #1 D-men: Edler, Bieksa, Hamhuis
For example, would Shea Weber solve our offensive problem?
There's so much talk about acquiring him. I'm opening up the conversation away from forwards for now to see if you guys think our problems are related to a lack of a #1 D man.

Our PP could use one. I learned this year that Edler is not what I thought he was on the PP. We missed Ehrhoff in that respect.

It really depends on the player I guess. If you put a #1 like Erik Karlsson in there, it helps a ton. If you get a #1 such as Marc Staal (kind of borderline but best example I could think of off the top of my head) who is all defense and little offense, it wont do anything for your offense. A guy like Shea Weber I'm sure helps a bit, but he wont solve all our problems. We need to go out and get a good winger to help fix our offense. Obviously Parise would be the best possible scenario in free agency, but financially unless we can move Booth, Ballard, and a couple other mid sized contracts, Parise would not happen. But I don't think one d-man solves a lot offensively.
TAKE PRIDE
That's what I think too but if you listened to the media and a lot of fans, they want to do everything they can to get Weber. I can't understand that, even though I get how awesome Weber is, because we have major problems in our top 6 to deal with. But I'm listening if there's a convincing argument for spending it all on Weber ...
