Dickey might have surpassed Lincecum here recently.

Lincecum for 15 years or Jamie Moyer for this year and next?

Outside of this year there's not much of a difference in his fb speeds. None of his other pitches have lost significant speed.

Exactly. You also have to take into account young power pitchers. When they come into the league, they try to overthrow and overpower hitters which is what Lincecum did. Then they get smarter and use their other pitches more often.

For those of you who haven't gotten the privilege to watch Dickey pitch on a regular basis...it is one of the most exciting spectacles you can see in the game of baseball. The guy is a living, breathing anomaly. I wouldn't be surprised if he had another 4-5 good years left in him, and could see him pitching into his mid 40s. As a Mets fan and a sports fan in general, he is one of the coolest athletes I have ever gotten a chance to root for. It has and will continue to be a privilege to cheer this man on.

Having said that, I am one of those who believe that Lincecum will turn things around, and if I am going to be completely objective...I would go Lincecum here. He isn't far removed from being one of the best pitchers in the game. I tend to believe he can and will eventually return to that form.

    Linceum. Dickey's 38, don't want to give a contract to a 38 year old.
    Favourite Teams:

Boston Red Sox: Disappointing regular season, hoping for good things in 2015.
Indianapolis Colts: 5-2, Week 8 vs. Steelers
Dallas Mavericks: New team, hoping for good things this season.
Ottawa Senators: 4-1-0, games this week vs. Toronto, New Jersey, Chicago

I'm not even considering Dickey in this though. Just the fact that Lincecum and a long term contract is pretty scary

Man, there are so many clueless guys on this board it's not funny.

Where do I start? First, Tim Lincecum himself doesn't want a long term deal. He rejected a 5 year 100 million dollar deal for a 2 year 40 million dollar deal. He wants to pay as you go, that's just how he is.

This is his worst season, and it's mainly b/c he wasn't prepared to play this year. He's had basically one bad inning in every outing, but his K's are still there (see Matt Kemp last month who went 0-3 with 3 K's against him.)

Lincecum's velocity went UP from 2010 to 2011. He gained weight & muscle and ADDED velocity, this past off season he lost weight, and his velocity has dropped.

One guy is a two time cy young winner, a power pitcher built for the playoffs who logs 200 IP every year, and has won a World Series defeating Cliff Lee twice, & Roy Halladay... the other guy is Dickey.

This is the same reason why 9 teams passed on Tim in the draft. And it still plagues him. Yeah, he'll have a bad year this year, but check back next year. The ace will return.
2012 World Series Champs Auto Checklist: Jeremy Affeldt, Javier Lopez (2), Ryan Vogelsong, George Kontos (2), Buster Posey, Brian Sabean, Bruce Bochy, Brandon Crawford, Sergio Romo, Barry Zito...

Dickey can realistically pitch through 2020 assuming he stays injury free.

If the deal is 5 years, all things considered (including what each player would get for the 5 year deal), I take Dickey.

The knuckleball will be successful so long as he can keep his impeccable control. Lincecum, while younger and boasting a greater track record, will undoubtedly be overpaid and overvalued by a team and fans alike for his past accolades.
