Just read this:
I forgot that Anton has a one way deal this year... interesting.Much like the deal given to Anton Khudobin last summer, the one-way situation in year two likely keeps the 5-foot-8 forward from jetting overseas this year for a larger role with a European club. Coming with a $550,000 cap-hit at the NHL level and $200,000 in the AHL, this will certainly be the final stand for an NHL career that's included just one goal and three assists in 33 career games at the NHL level.
As far as I understand it, since Thomas' contract is a "35+ conctract", then his cap hit would count even if he retired.
Yep
Chiarelli on possibility of trading TT: "He's a world class goalie...he'd help somebody in a big way if he decided to play."^BISH

****ing Thomas...I would be surprised to hear why people still like him after this...

Peter Chiarelli: "I'm approaching this season as if Tim Thomas won't be playing next yr. There's a strong chance he'll be taking year off"
Didn't really expect this.
I don't think anyone expected this...but I'm sure glad it could be happening![]()
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=397390The Boston Bruins confirmed on Friday that goaltender Tim Thomas is seriously considering taking next season off from hockey to spend more time with his family.
"Tim came to me toward the beginning of May through his agent," Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli explained to reporters on a conference call. "And said he is seriously considering taking year off."
TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reported on Thursday that Thomas was considering not playing next season. Thomas, who won the Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe Trophy and his second Vezina Trophy last season, was at the centre of controversy this past winter when he opted not to appear at the Bruins' White House visit hosted by U.S. president Barack Obama.
Thomas later explained his actions on his Facebook page and cancelled any media scrums if a question was asked regarding the incident.
"We'd have to deal (the loss of Thomas for the season) and we will," said Chiarelli. "I'd be more than satisfied with Tuukka (Rask) and (Anton) Khudobin as our goaltenders."
Thomas's no-trade clause on his contract expires on July 1 and will cost any interested team $5 million against the salary cap, prompting speculation that the Bruins might trade the 38-year-old veteran.
"He's a world class goalie," added Chiarelli. "He'd help somebody in a big way if he decided to play."
TT - Ya I don't know if I want to play next season
PC - OK Timmy
TT - Pete I don't think you heard me *clears throat* I don't know if I want to play next season
PC - Timmy I heard you fine and it's OK. We feel like we'll be just find with Tuukka between the pipes
TT - But I'm a two time Vezina winner with a Conn Symthe
PC - ...............
TT - Pete are you still there? Hello?
Receptionist - I'm sorry but Mr. Chiarelli is currently on the other line with Mr. Rask, would you like to leave a message
TT -No Thanks, I'll just wait for my agent to tell me where I'm playing next season.

You know what's awkward right now? TT and Tuukka have the same agent.
It's funny you say that, cause I was just thinking about something. With the possibility of TT sitting out and Rask being a RFA, does it not maybe drive his price up a little bit?
I mean come negotiation time on the first offer, Rask's agent can come back and say, "you currently have no starting Goalie, Tuukka is unsigned and Thomas is sitting out. My client is looking for a serious offer seeing the situation your in."
I'm not saying Tuukka would do that but his agent might. I wonder if this is just a ploy to get Tuukka more money for his next contract![]()
