I don't think D'Arnaud is the best catching prospect in baseball, let alone a top five overall.

I resemble that statement. I'm probably 200 right now, at 5'10"... but there was a time when I even hit 225...but I wouldn't say I'm fat by any means, just a wide shouldered frame. I mean I could drop a few beers from my gut, its not perfect...
I still get dimes doin double takes, so I'm not complaining too much...

keith law has the mariners minor league orginaniztion ranked 8th in the majors. paxton not even in the top 100. don't get how that works. when paxton is on he is one of the best pitchers in the minors
Yeah when he's on. He's been somewhat inconsistent.

Franklin is listed in the 80's on his top 100 list i believe.. maybe it was the 60's but still... yikes on Franklin and Paxton rankings.

Don't worry about it Keith Law is very harsh with prospects.
Look at my boy James Paxton pitch.
Power. Lefty. Wicked deuce. He's comin soon boys. Don't sleep.
Snappin that ****. He needs to get out of that Bedard/Noesi #45 jersey or hell never amount to ****!
Kids got a cannon!
I just found out that Brandon Maurer was on the same team as Gerrit Cole in high school.
So Franklin puts on 35 lbs and the Mariners asked him to. He was already being called a borderline SS defensively. What do we think the plan is for him now? Third? Left field? Super utility? Offensive shortstop? Clearly they like the power potential, enough that they're willing to put 35 eggs into that basket. I'm excited to see how that plays out.
I so I have no idea if this is valid or not (anyone wanna check?), but in OOTP it says Maurer was rule 5 eligible this off-season, which means he was added to the 40-man roster... which means he's one of the top options to make the starting five over Noesi and Beavan out of ST... if OOTP is correct. Its also just as likely, or more likely that he starts in AAA and gets called up later in the season... but I think its a safe bet we see him this season, and probably sooner rather than later.

He's on the 40 man CM and Franklin moves to 3B.
I'm confused, why does Maurer being on the forty not make him a favorite to make the starting five?
