I guess, but still, if you look at fan graphs, most guys 2 seams are the same speed, or at least close.

2-seamers are usually slower than 4 seamers. Not necessariy 6 mph slower, but differing speeds can be a good thing. Maybe he uses his 2 seamer like a change. I mean he's hitting 97-98 with one and 90-92 with the other that's a decent variation.

What is the time table for Zunino getting to the Mariners? He seems highly touted, but I would imagine being a catcher might add some time to his development. Should we expect September of next year?

Maybe. Depends on how he hits. His defense is ready/close to ready right now.

JZ said expect a similar path as Hultzen. Probably baby him this year, then Arizona Fall League and then Jackson next year.

Z said Zunino will begin in Everett. Either Shannon Drayer wrote it, or Z said it in a press conference.

Yea they could treat Zunino different then Ackley because Zunino is playing Catcher arguably the toughest position to play on the field might take him a bit longer.

Going to be exciting not having to see Olivo,Jojhima,Moore and Johnson behind the plate we have had some horrible Catchers.

It was explained to me that he is starting there because we have other guys that have earned playing time at Clinton, HD, and Jackson. I would think he is at Jackson to start next year, or at least HD.

His first to plate appearances tonight Zunino has a double and a walk... not a bad start to your career!

And Zunino will have to earn his promotions, but if I had to guess he gets a late season call next year, or a real strong look the following spring training. I don't think it'll be his defense holding him back, but who really knows right now... my guess is they move him just fast enough to prove his bat at each level, and reach a level of confidence at each level that they never afforded Ackley. In other words, treat him the same, but develop his confidence that much more.

He isn't playing the second game, but he went 1-2 with a double and a walk. Looks solid at C too
