Jones was really stiff at the Combine, and relatively slow (4.9 40) for his size. What makes you think he will be a star? Mayock? Last guy I remember him pimping like this was Robert Ayers in 2009. Denver took him 18th overall and he has done nothing since.
Actually Ayres does what he is asked to do. He is not half bad in fact if you look at his pressures he does quite well.(not that I am giving anyone on my team any credit Patriot fans. I know you think we all suck) As for Jones. I believe he is a BB kind of guy. Combines dont always tell the whole story you know. BB is the kind of guy who can get a guy like Jones to play at full potential. Playing for a SB this year will also help motivate. I actually love the Pats first round this year and believe me that is painful to say.

I'll take Jones as well as Branch. Those 2 as well as Mercilus were my 3 favorite pass rushers coming out, but Mercilus has some guys ahead of him right now.
Branch is going to shock many based on what i've read in here. I like him a lot in the situation we will use him in. Needs to get bigger to be an every down end for us though, but Joe Cullen, the Jaguars defensive line coach has been very impressed thus far with him, and is a lot better against the run than he thought when we got him (although hearing that in May doesn't matter a ton without pads).

Homer Pick: Dont'a Hightower
Non Homer Pick: Chandler Jones
Branch had as many sacks and nearly as many tackles for loss last season as Jones did in his entire career. Neither player had exceptional numbers for the position, but if you had to pick one, Branch seems more likely to excel at the next level.

And Clay Matthews had like 6 in his college career. What's your point?
College stats are worthless and don't amount to jack crap.
Any non homer, ahem (you Alpha) would not agree with that. If you said equal sure, but I don't think Branch is honestly more likely. I don't think most people do, and I'm not even a Jones fan and I rather liked Branch.

Upshaw
Upshaw or Jones.
Jones had 10 sacks in his whole freaking college career and the expectation seems to be he'll match that in his first 10 games as a pro? Not likely. He's the same age as Aldon Smith and Aldon had 11 1/2 sacks as a freshman in college.
