Staffy for sure. Its going to be interesting to see how Cutler does this year now that there are no excuses about his offensive weapons.

One QB just threw for 5000 yards. Its only been done 5 times ever.
The other QB is Jay Cutler. This has nothing to do with the fact that he plays for Chicago. It's Jay Cutler. I thought this was just a homer rant thread, no way should this be an actual discussion.

Say 5000 yards some more. Wooohooo volume stats. Yay. Stafford is better than Rodgers. Dan Marino too.
I'm not going to get on some long drawn out Cutler rant with a Lions fan but there's three guys in here who I greatly respect their football opinions and 2 of them said exactly what I said and one picked Stafford. It's not like it's some crazy thing to think the other way.

5000 yards. 24 years old.
Jay Cutler is an average QB. He has never done anything to say otherwise. One of those potential guys with a million excuses.
And for the record, my being a Lions fan does not hamper my ability to have a neutral discussion whatsoever. Im a football fan first and foremost.

Average QB? I'm not sure about that.
Average would mean around 15th best in the league and I certainly don't feel that is the case.
It's not that I think one is more talented than the other. Pretty close there. But Stafford has really done it once and had more to work with. I have little doubt that Jay could put up very similar numbers in DET.
I haven't done QB rankings in a while but maybe I'll put something together and see where I think they fit now.

lol had a Lions fan tell me that the 'Megatron' excuse was played out and had no relevance to how well Stafford did last year. Couldn't see how a dominant WR opens up the field for everyone else of the offense. He told me "Take out CJ's 1700 and 16 tds and Stafford still has 3,300 and 25... Then add a decent #1 wr and he's gonna have 4,500 and 33 at least!" SMH...

Here's my list of top QB's I'd pick to be on my team (ratings change as they don't have their current weapons in my rankings)
1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Tom Brady
3. Drew Brees
4. Eli Manning
5. Peyton Manning (benefit of the doubt w/ neck injury)
6. Philip Rivers
7. Ben Roethlisberger
8. Tony Romo
9. Jay Cutler
10. Matthew Stafford
11. Cam Newton
12. Matt Ryan
13. Matt Schaub
14. Michael Vick
15. Josh Freeman
16. Andy Dalton
64. Tim Tebow

Always impressive when someone can do that. Random stats, Stafford threw the ball 663 times last season. He threw for 5,038. The NFL record for pass attempts in a season is 691 just 28 more passes than Stafford threw.
1. Drew Brees: 5,476 yards in 2011 657 attempts
2. Tom Brady: 5,235 yards in 2011 611 attempts
3. Dan Marino: 5,084 yards in 1984 564 attempts
4. Drew Brees: 5,069 yards in 2008 635 attempts
5. Matthew Stafford: 5,038 yards in 2011 663 attempts
I think the combination of a dome, throwing the ball 663 times and Calvin Johnson will help a lot in netting 5,000 yards. Stafford threw the ball A LOT last year, lol didn't realize that until I looked it up.
Now just for shts and giggles, we'll look at that list again and I'll move everyone up to 663 attempts on that list, and go by their comp percentage and AVG to see what they'd put up.
1. Drew Brees: 5,476 yards in 2011 5,509 with 663
2. Tom Brady: 5,235 yards in 2011 5,526 with 663
3. Dan Marino: 5,084 yards in 1984 5,651 with 663
4. Drew Brees: 5,069 yards in 2008 5,212 with 663.
Random line here... If Rodgers had 663 attempts last year, he'd have the same 5,651 as the projected Marino rate from 84'.
Disclaimer, not trashing Stafford in any way. Just wanted to break down the numbers, so Lions fans, don't take it the wrong way.

You sure that's right? I'm almost positive if he had the same # of attempts as Brees he would have had 6k going by YPA.Random line here... If Rodgers had 663 attempts last year, he'd have the same 5,651 as the projected Marino rate from 84'.

Staffords attempts 663.
Rodgers attempts 502.
Rodgers completion % 68.3
Rodgers AVG 9.25 yds
663-502= 161 difference in attempts. 161 x completion % of 68.3 (161x.683)= 109.96 (I just kept it at 109 hard to round in a case like this) projected completions x AVG of 9.25 = 1,008 yards. 4,643+additional 1,008 yards= 5,651 projected yards.
Who said Bears fans weren't good with math ;p
He is the most interesting CB in the world.
I'll tell you right now, it'll be hard to judge the two head to head. Cutler won't attempt as many passes. I'd expect Cutler to attempt honestly around 150 less than Stafford. Last, this isn't really an excuse... But Megatron is the best WR in the NFL, he will help Stafford out a lot! Seriously reminds me of the Randy Moss era, but bigger and stronger.
